Favorite skiing sounds

So with the powdery bumps at Sundown the last few days, I've had a few drops that, while throwing me backseat after absorbing the drop entirely with my waist, have produced that satisfying thump of powder bumps.

To me, there are few things as cool as the rhythmic thumping of a good skier hitting a powder bump zipper line.

Really, there are few sonds made by skis that I don't like, other than skidding down a trail.

• The sound that a slalom gate makes when it crashes onto the snow/ski
• The sound of the diesel engine of a groomer
• The sound of snow being made

The sound of Wachusett's summit lift taking off like a jet when it restarts. Never heard anything like it.

The random beeps lifts make at the loading area

Skis on snow

Wind as you pick up speed

A snowmobile in the disance

The turbo on a groomer spooling up

The silence of a quiet day at the mountain, subtle voices and shouts in the distance.

Hitting patches of snow just right. That - WHUMP

A child's excitement after realizing the hill he or she just conquered.

The clanking of poles together, the click of boot-to-binding.

The bartender asking, "What can I get ya?" at the end of the day.

The squeak of a lift sheave wheel.

The near silence in the woods....except for the wind and falling snow from the trees.

I wouldn't know. My damn Leedom helmet makes so much wind noise that I haven't heard anything but a loud whistling sound for 12 years. It might be time for a new helmet.

I love the rare ocations when ski movies turn the soundtrack off and you actually hear the skiing sounds.It really puts you in the picture,but they hardly ever omit music.Ski racing on the tele has lots of ski sounds however.

I like the sound a gondola makes when it goes across one of those really long (or multiple) tower sets of wheels...

+1 I stink at skiing tight trees. But the quiet and solitude of being in a gladed area with no one else but you ski buds is great.

have you ever noticed how loud and "bad" those bumps on temptor sound on video? i was putting together that little thing for the mogul board last night and i was like holy crap, those sound awful.
