I was cuing up a video on YAHOO! (C) music and heard a preview comeon... "from its early days to its rise as an Olympic Sport...we trace snowboarding..."

It was then that I realized that this was an ad for a new movie: First Descent which just opened this weekend. Did anyone see it? Any reviews? Have y'all already talked about it and I'm behind?

This coming Friday, a movie is being released from Universal Studios about the revolution of snowboarding. The movie has riders: Shaun White, Hannah Teter, Shawn Farmer, Nick Perata, Terje Haakonsen.

Personally, I can't look at these riders and see the evolution. I see riders such as Jake Burton and Tom Sims to name a couple.

The movie doesn't have any more than any TGR or Warren Miller movie, but a major movie company is releasing it and playing it in theatres nationwide

I saw it-

Actually, it's nothing like the TGR/Warren Miller movies. At all. It has more of a story line, this adventure in alaska. In between the AK scenes there is are segments on the history of snowboarding, which are really well done. Jake Burton is interviewed in the movie too. The one thing I really didn't like was the fake sound effects they added in. For the big powder lines in Alaska, they had this nasty, scraping sound that was supposed to be the snow. Other than that it was all nicely done.
