Thanks to Smitty, I have a coupon for Killington burning a hole in my parka, so I'm going to head up next week. Someone at work told me to park at Bear, and I'll give that a shot, any other things to do that first timers wouldn't normally be aware of?
My skiing's improving, definitely an intermediate skier again, but going solo, so glades are out

Anyway, any suggestions, hints, whatever, would be appreciated, and let it :snow: !

I park at bear myself coming from ct, easy access to the lodge and lifts. skyeship is even easier then that but i never feel like skiing all the way down at the end of the day.

As far as terrain, if you do park at bear you can access some blue stuff off the skyepeak quad. Skyburst, the trail under the lift, or when you get off the lift you can get over to the needles eye area easily. Or you can go between the netting to the right of the unloading area and head over to kbl. take the gondi and use great northern to get you over to snowdon and rams head. both have ample blue terrain, especially rams head which i believe is actually their designated family area. some nice cruisers over there. just keep an eye on the clock if you are over in that area as you'll have to ride 2 lifts to get back to bear parking. Dont get stuck in the wrong area when the lifts close.

You don't ski glades by yourself? Wussy! :)

Perhaps a topic for a different thread, but especailly at a place like Killington where there is a pretty good amount of traffic through the Glades, I see nothing wrong with ducking in and out of the trees for a quick jaunt. Or better yet, make some friends on the lift who want to rip up the woods with you.

Are there a lot of Glades open at K?

I believe that Patsy's is the only one officially open at K, but from what I've heard, some of the others are very skiable.

Anyway, try to hit the South Ridge area. If you can find it, Breakaway will almost always have powder. All of the trails in that area are always barely touched.

Yea, won't do glades by myself, especially after what SkiDiva posted. Eeesh. I'll see if I can hook up with anyone on the lifts, I'm intermediate and don't want to slow anyone down.

One advantage of the Skyeship gondi base (well, besides that it's right on Route 4) is that it's accessable from the majority of the resort for the end of the day. The down side is great Eastern can look like the L.I.E. at rush hour when you head down for your last run. (I guess it's prolly not too fun on a board.)

I'll park there, or Bear or some times at the K base, but then, I never ski there on weekends.

Get a map. It's a must. Have fun!

Usually, last run on GE will be empty because the Skyeship gondola is closed, so you only ski down there if you parked there. They put up signs that say that about a half-hour before the lifts close at the cut-off for Bearly.

I think the Skyeship base is a grossly underutilized area.. I wouldn't go there because I come from the west....but for anyone coming from the east, its great. Actually this weekend I think I waited in line down there for the lift for the first time ever, so perhaps people have figured it out.
