Been a busy summer especially here at work, where I'm most likely to check things out on-line. Starting to feel it a little now and prepping for winter so I've been popping in here and there.......................don't want to miss any of those ski cheap deals..............

Just signed up, no voucher yet, but thanks for the tip. I haven't skied Wawa since the late 80's. It's only about an hour and a half from where I now live, so this might be a nice option for early season turns.

thanks mildcat

Is WaWa worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from CT even if it's free?

Haven't skied Beast, but from what I've read, it's a much better mountain than Wawa. If I had to compare Wawa jogging my memory back 20 years, it is like a mini Okemo minus seeded bumps. I have customers that are about 45 minutes from there, so for me, I'll probably hit it up on a Friday night or perhaps a weekend day as I assume it will open before Tenney does (I have a pass there) and conditions up north won't warrant burning one of my ski club vouchers.

Berkshire East

Berkshire East is honestly worse than Wachusett when the natural runs aren't open. Plus Wachusett typically opens 2-3 weeks before Beast unless there is major snowfall in early December. Berkshire East is a small Wachusett when it's just Competition, Big Chief, and Exhibition.

You must've missed War Dance, Outback, Roundabout and Flying Cloud. WaWa is about the same size, they only have Conifer, 10th, Ralph's, Smith, Challenger, Hitchhock and Look Ma. BEast is also less crowded than WaWa. As for early openings, Mount Snow isn't much further than WaWa for me and they open two weeks before WaWa.

They're both the same as far as crowds early season. One misconception many people have about Wachusett is the supposed crowd thats "always" there. Before Christmas and from March on, the place is dead except Saturday nights. The conditions on Wa's groomers also tend to be better than Beast's groomers... I've been to Beast on a groomer-only day (Jan of 04... can't blame rain or lack of snowmaking) and Flying Cloud and Competition were scraped clean in about 2 hours. Big Chief was pretty good as were War Dance and lower Competition. Outback and Roundabout, unless you're a beginner, are only worth 1 run for the novelty.

Don't get me wrong, I love Beast, but it really isn't that good when it's groomers only.

What will WaWa have open in early December? If there's anything good open, I'll consider

If it's anything like last year, the summit will be entirely open by December 6th. Minuteman opened December 14th or something like that but that was due to a splice issue.

It it's an awful year like 06-07, 10th and Smith won't open until after MLK.

If it's a normal year, 10th will be open by the first week of December and Smith the 2nd week as well as Ralph's, Challenger, and Look Ma.

Seriously, unless it's free, just keep going to Mt. Snow if it's as close unless you like a land of groomers.

I'm getting a pass, but I would like a freebie for friends or visitors. The link is not working for me. Tells me I need to allow cookies and I've tried it on IE and Firefox on a PC and safari on the mac with the same result. :smash:

The more I think about it, I'd rather pay to go to Mount Snow than to ski free at WaWa
