The kids have off this Friday and I was hoping to do a day trip to Sunapee.

But the forecast for rain on Wed and Thursday, makes me think that anything south of Cannon will have craptacular conditions.

I know that Wildcat has the $9 deal on Friday, but I'm really not up for a 4 hour run up to Jackson. (I live near Cape Cod and if I'm going to drive that far, then I might as well get a condo for the weekend at The Loaf.)

Season passholders around town say that Stowe, Sugarbush, and Loon were melting like crazy last weekend (counter to many opinions on this board). We all could really use some March snow - but that doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon.

So - thoughts. What are conditions going to be at the Southern NH resorts on Friday? Is Friday a washout and will Saturday be the superior day? Or is this rain the death of the season for the southern resorts?

Stowe still has a huge base at the stake. Maybe dripping at the mansion but mighty fine upper mountain. I was at Loon last Friday and saw some wet stuff at the base even then. I suspect your reports were all about the base area conditions.

Due to the temps, Friday is gonna be firm in the Green Mts and Whites, but above freezing in So NH, so you'll have spring skiing in SNH on Friday. Saturday will be warm all over. Probably in general Saturday will be a better day, but I'm planning to ski both Friday and Saturday.

Thanks - with the kid's schedule (spring sports already ramping up) Friday is the only choice.

I think Sunapee should crack the 32 mark and that is where we will head.
