Been lurking for years, and figured I'd finally post..

My longest has been just under 3.5 hours each way to Killington. I've done that twice. Once in mid-May when it was the only option, and the other time when I just wanted to by-pass the southern-VT areas and wasn't ambitious enough to go all the way to Sugarbush :) I otherwise have kept it under 2 hours each way.

3.5 hours Boston to Snow, and back. Done that several times. 1.5 to Sunapee is very common, as has been 2 hours to Gunstock for night skiing.

3.5 hours from Boston to Mt Snow? How fast were you driving? 45 mph? You can make Sugarbush reliably from Boston in 3.5 hours and Stowe in 3:45.

I'm amazed that none of the Bostonians talk about th e 3+ hour run to the River.

If I lived in Boston, I wouldn't probably ski anywhere else....ok I haven't been to the loaf yet.

But I've been justy about everywhere else....OK, except Burke as well...

I have parents that don't ski, and I'm 17 so I can't rent a hotel room. This means that the only thing I can do is day trips. Gonna pull some looong days next year considering I live in southern CT. (And one my goals is to hit Jay - might be a problem considering its like 6+ hours there)

My longest day trip was a 4+ hours each way to Wildcat from CT to catch an epic late season snow fall of 18 inches. It was a super long day, but I made second chair and had first tracks on Wildcat, Catcomb Glade and Gondi Line. It was worth it.

Long day trips are fun if there is fresh snow, particularly if you don't have drive.

Didn't KMART have a youth Hostel somewhere?

Youth hostels, eh? Never heard of 'em. After a little research I found a few hostels that have websites in Vermont, so I emailed them. Anyway, thanks for the tip, if anyone has any info on a place like this, it would be greatly appreciated.
