So how could Apple do anything except ask to have something created for more $?

After a rash of employee suicides due to work conditions earlier this year wages for factory workers increased 30%. Foxconn and other contractors passed on the cost of the increase to Apple and their other customers earlier this year. This is when Mr Jobs went nuts even addressing publicly this as unacceptable.
Most companies doing business in China accepted the labor increase.

Most Americans have no idea that all the crap we get from China is produced in sweatshops. Even in the high end contractors like Foxconn the workers live in dorms that look just like US prisons.

I hear ya... But since that article was posted in May - Apple has tried to make good by lessening profits to give raises. And also tried to deal with the suicides..

I also just read that Apple is going to make their new relases at Qualcom instead of Foxconn.. To bad for Foxconn.

Yeah - Apple,HP and Dell make their products at Foxconn.. And the clothes you wear are made in sweatshops in India and elsewhere...And the food your animals eat comes from China.. I could go on...
