Sugarbush North had enough snow with probably close to 2' of natural near the top in the woods, and the glades where opened but got skied off really quickly. One more storm or some more light snows this week should do the trick.

Um yeah, I'm gonna have to go ahead and, uh, disagree with you there.

Only in certain areas at SB North are the woods skiable. Specifically, lower angle, well maintained lines above 3000' in elevation are skiable, though not at full speed. Anything lower, steeper, or messier is very much off-limits right now. I poked my head in at various times this weekend at varying elevations and got a pretty good sample of what is and isn't ready. To really open up woods lines above 2500' (it will take a lot longer below that), SB will need to receive no less than 18-24" of medium density snow. Anything less, you'll have to really know where you're going and would still have to hunt and peck even then.

You can disagree with me all that you want, the fact is that there where alot of people in the woods yesterday and they seemed to be having a good time.

Go for it

I've been and I'll say only one thing: You can go and have a lot of fun, but bring your junk skis/board. The base is real thin and you will go over things you don't see or hear.

Either don't look at your bases when you are done or be prepared for a real horror show when you do.

Go for it. I hear nobody promising things will get better this year. Only lots of hope and good wishes.

My friend just did not want to destroy his bases because he did not have his rock ski's with him. I did not want to ski the glades alone, as I think it is dangerous, so I stayed out.

I thought the rule of thumb was to go in with a minimum of 4 people...3 to carry the body out just in case

EDIT: I'm a firm believer in that, ever since I cracked some ribs (hairline) by myself in the woods at Cannon

And it only took a decade after that to start wearing a helmet all the time....girls go to college...

I just really started wearing one this year. I swear to god I have been knocked in the head a million times in my brief season (only been out 10ish times). What did I do before this year? I must have a hard head

Skied Beaver Pond & Expo Glade at Jay yesterday. Both had good coverage.

"Peeeeeeeter! I'm just going to have to go ahead and ask you to go ahead and skiing on Monday too. If you could do that for me, that would be great. Thanks."

Im all for wearing helmets, but 4 people just to go in a glade? Thats a little excessive.

Sherm, I still owe you a pass, shoot me a pm with your address.
