This information came from the "Save Cannon Mountain" group:

[h=5]As the snow melts away at Cannon comes good news: the mountain turned an operational profit of as much as $900,000 this past season, a substantial recovery from last year. Since 2008, Cannon has produced an average surplus of $515,000 annually - money that helps the self-funded state park system. Skier visits were up 25 percent this past season, which was within 3 percent of Cannon's record.

funds from the Cannon Mountain Capital Improvement Fund, fueled by the Sunapee lease:

hydrant installation on Taft Slalom, pump capacity upgrades on existing equipment, tower mounted fan gun, replacement
piping on two trails, and 3-month excavator rental);

$167,000 in water and power system upgrades (primary water pump/s, metering equipment, primary reservoir tank/s,
primary water lines for Peabody & Notchview Lodge area, well construction for Park HQ area, low-flow fixtures @
Peabody kitchen, primary switch at Cannonball Quad, communication line to summit, communication line to Peabody
Quad, service switch at Mountain Station, rebuild on Aerial Tram motor generator;

I hate to ask this question but if they didn't get money from the Sunapee lease would they still be in the black?

Hard to say. So much time has passed since that lease began, and so many things could have changed, that it is probably impossible to say for sure.

What changed between last year and this year besides natural snowfall during the vacation weeks?
For me 25% up year to year probably highlights their (unhealthily) higher than their competitors reliance on natural snow for the region.
Are these numbers about profit believable anyway, there always seems to be debate on that?

Nothing to do with this thread except Cannon.I went to the skihouse to bring some stuff home for the summer and ended up earning some turns.To my surprize all of the Zoomer trails were totally connected top to bottom except Avalance.So I did 1 last run down Garys.It was afternoon and the snow was pretty manky but hey,a run is a run.Saw a few skiers up top on Profile which was fully covered.

Yeah, see my report from yesterday in the TR section. Great conditions top to bottom! Was happy to see so many people on the hill. Glad you got some too.
