I would like to offer you some encouragement and say things get better as they get older but I am afraid not ..

Perhaps its bad that I feel like I can go for months without talking to people, even my closest friends, and it not be a big deal?

Maybe I just have too independent (read: loner) a mindset for a relationship.

Suuuuuuuuuuuure... But wouldn't it be better to share it with your woman? It's the ultimate goal.. Rarely obtainable.. But a worthy goal...

It's a good thought. I've had a couple gf's over the years that were pretty good skiers. I definitely enjoyed sharing that passion, but other aspects didn't work.

I guess in general, I think for any relationship to work, you have to at least be able to share a passion about something.

I have two strong passions and they are my namesake on this board. I'm passionate about skiing and passionate about seeing live music. It started out as a youngster seeing Grateful Dead and Phish shows. Nowadays it's spin offs of the Dead and other bands, like moe., assembly of dust, scarecrow collection, widespread panic on and on and on.

My current girl, I know I'll never get her out on the slopes. That's unfortunate, but she respects my passion for the sport. She however does have a passion for going to shows and festivals like I do and that is a big part of the glue that makes us work so well together.

Any relationship I've been in that didn't share at least one of these passions, sunk like a stone and I got labeled as selfish. I'm Very lucky for the relationship I have now, though if it's a powder day, she knows our plans 'together' have to wait for another day, lol.

Right - my girl is WAY into skiing but not so much into the Dead, et al... But she knows it's part of what i am so she doesn't have issues with it.. As long as i don't drive "banged up"... Also i add in the added dimension of playing music semi-professionally.. So that takes some time.. Some bands I play in she likes... Some not so much...

Yeah...My wife has a bit more interest in skiing than the dead. I've taken her to shows and such but she's in it just to hang and not the music. She becomes a "show talker" which annoys the shit out of me. "Honey...we'll talk during set break....or space." ;)
