Hey all,
I'm back from a fun RAW..Right After Work session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I rocked out to some T. Pain on the ride up and pulled into the lower lot at 3:43PM with the temperature a mild 43 degrees under Mostly Sunny skys. I first rode the 6-pack with Kevin and his buddy. Kevin is a guy from the local bar who likes to drink Labatt Blue on the lift. Anyway I first skied a freshly groomed Lazy Mile with them, it was weird being back on hardpack again after skiing deep powder in Vermont and also weird to ski top to bottom without my legs burning. I then skied Challenge which has some widely spaces bumps..chalky areas in the troughs outnumbered scratchy areas 8:1..not bad..and then after the first headwall the rest of challenge was groomed. One noob on the lift asked why the toughest trail would have bumps?? The run is called challenge..der der der..they should have aligators and trapdoors to give it more challenge.
After Challenge pronounced Sha-longge...I saw Zaldon at the top..he said he saw Tickle Me Toast and Knuckle -Dan earlier in the lower park. We went down Dreamweaver which was sweet then a freshly groomed Switchback and we then ran into Jim..you know Bruces buddy who wears the red one piece skisuit unless it's really warm..then he wears the yellow one piece skisuit..we skied Paradise which was nice..Lazy Mile which was high on the steezy dial and Main Street which was neat..but not good enough for a repeat.
As some of you know, Zaldon likes order in the liftline and a race kid cut the whole line..Zaldon called him out..the 15 year old kid thought for a few seconds and said,"F&ck You"...Zaldon just laughed..then a minute later while we still hadn't moved because the liftline guy was showing no love to the VIPs..a race coach cut the whole line and joined a group of 6..der der der..So Zaldon called him out and I did as well..well the guy responded,"That was un-neccassary" to which Zaldon responded,"It was un-necassary to cut the whole line"..anyway the guy named Joe ended up riding the lift with us..and we were discussing the gray areas of the VIP line. Then 2 runs later, the same race coach was now organizing the VIP line..making sure there were no lowly dayticket holders rolling in VIP..and he was lecturing the race kids to get in groups of 6 and wait in an organized line. Zaldon shook hands with him and when I saw a group of 6 racers behind our group,"I joked to Joe that aren't they allowed to cut"..he mentioned that the big problem was non VIPs in the VIP line..and mentioned how there should be a super VIP line for race-coaches and ski patrollers..is it just me or are Jibhonks more respectful than racekids????
Back to the skiing..the last several runs were great and as the sunset..the temperature dropped to near freezing. I ended up quitting at 6:33PM after 14 runs and 14,700 vertical feet..it was a little busy, it was a little hectic but Blue mountains continued nightly snowmaking and twice daily grooming provided all with some of the nicest conditions of the season..
