Honestly it seems like the Ikon blackouts have had a huge impact on MLK and President’s Day crowds where I ski (Sunday River). Those weekends are often less busy than a prime midwinter weekend. No complaints from me…
Agreed on lesser crowds. Holiday weekends are a lot of once or twice a year skiers who are usually burned out after a few hours in the morning and retreat to the lodge for cocktails. Add in some storm conditions and that further reduces crowds. The blackout also helps quite a bit.

It's legal to pass in VT on a double yellow.
Yes, but it is not a free for all. Very strict limits when passing on a double yellow. Cannot be a posted no passing zone and you cannot exceed the speed limit when passing on a double yellow. This law allowing passing in these instances was to get around farm implements using roadways that are by definition, way slow below the speed limit.

Crowds..hmm..lets see..dumping at pc..the entire world showed up.
It's dumping at Jackson Hole too. Other than the tram there are no lines here this weekend. We've been skiing right on to the Sublette and Thunder lifts.

Another LOL at being "blacked out" this weekend.

We went to Moab instead.

Beautiful weather & nobody goes to the desert in winter. No idea why not.
Keep that quiet, I'd like it to stay that way. It's the best time of the year by far, aside from the occasional need for some microspikes in the shady areas.

My plan to hit Gunstock early morning on Thursday isn’t looking good due to the summit HSQ likely down all week.

Tenney would be good right? Mass people probably aren’t going there.

Should be good just double check that the Hornet is fixed after today. Down for maintenance based on their post this morning or last night

I think Tenney would be good if the Hornet is running !

Didn't think lines at Sugarbush were too bad and I give them credit for having them well organized corrals on Bravo and Gate House.

Found everything skiing great with maybe the exception of Downspout to Heavens Gate. There are probably other ways but I don't know the mountain well enough. It had been a while since I had gotten there and I kind of forgot how much I like it. Bumps on the side of Spring Fling and Eden were really fun.

Just to touch on the NJ-VT Friday night shuffle, I-87 did a pretty good imitation of I-70 with fender benders and backups just south of Harriman and again at Newburgh as well.

This is more of what stops me from skiing holidays than busy slopes and lift lines which haven't been as bad lately. But while the ski traffic has lightened over the years, the road traffic just keeps getting worse.

Heard it was 3 hours up lcc...and 3 hours down.
"Canyon Chaos" . As bad as I-70 can be I really think it can be worse in Utah. 2 years ago we were leaving Utah to go back to Colorado, we drove south on Wasatch Blvd to get to I-15. Delayed opening in both Canyons and the traffic parked waiting for it (and I'm not joking) stretched 5 miles from the mouth of the Canyon.

Yeah, but unlike I-70, where for much of the drive it is quite literally the only option without a detour measured in many hours, there are quite a few alternate routes to work with for NJ/NYC to VT.

You might get there an hour later if you need to switch over to one of them because the Thruway is a disaster, but you don't just have to join the parking lot + sit there for 3 hours because there's nowhere else to go.

It’s also not only SKI traffic. It’s the major road serving the most densely populated area of the country. I70 and Utah are traffic FOR SKIING
