Date(s) Skied: 1/4/2014
Resort or Ski Area: Gunstock - Gilford, New Hampshire
Conditions: Machine Groomed, Packed Powder, Powder (in the trees)
Trip Report: After much though (Crotched, Magic, and Ragged), I ended back home at Gunstock. Today they had 4 out of the 5 routes from the top open which was nice. Trigger and gunsmoke skied really nice, with powder kicking up after the crowds chopped up the groom. Recoil skied with a TON of death cookies, although later in the day it was getting better, and flintlock had some cookies, although not as bad as recoil. Snow was SUPER grippy today with the extreme cold, which kept the crowds at bay for most of the day. They also opened up the Recoil glades, but man, I suck... I ventured in, and just looked like a deer in headlights noob... Need to brush up on the powder/chopped powder skiing... Maybe if it was an open trail sans trees I would have felt more comfortable, but I did make it through and didn't lose a ski like quite a few people there. But most importantly of all, after 2 years on the wait list, I am now an official member of the Gunstock mug club!
Here are some photos for your viewing enjoyment! Hope to get out next weekend, but looks unlikely
The Glades which kinda kicked my ass:
Looking up Derringer:
Looking down Cannonball:
Flintlock! Open for the Season!
And of course mug number 65!
