Yep, I loved Gunstock, it was a great mountain. Some really nice cruising trials, which I love.

I hate when I take the diggers....didn't see it coming. I was doing great with the new skis, thought I had it down pretty good, practicing keeping the skis together, carving and all, then bam, down I went. I think the skis were a little too close together and the tips crossed just enough to take me down and I was probably a little too laxed on pressure. A ski came off and slammed my head against the snow, it was a good thing I did have a helmet on, I really would've felt that worse, if I didn't. Wrenched my left shoulder and a thumb, so now I'll probably be muscle sore tomorrow. Took me a little bit to gather my wits to get down to uphill, knowing that he'd probably be worried where I was. Finailly caught up with him down at the quad and told him to go ahead and do a run if he wanted, I needed to get myself together a little.

After some time I figured, I'd better get back on the horse that threw me or I wouldn't have the rest of the day, being careful, but not too careful that I'd do it again. Even did some moguls, albeit maybe not that graceful, but did them anyways. I still need work on the moguls. But was having a great time on this mountain. I have to say Gunstock really impressed me. I like that it wasn't that croweded and have a lot to offer. I'm starting to get out of the big mountains. Don't get me wrong I love Sunday River, Sugarloaf, and Killington, but getting a little tired of the crowds. Looking for something different now. I think we're starting to find it.

How was the view? The view of Winnepesaukee is stunning from the
top of the mountain.

I'm planning to spend MLK weekend there. The last time I skied there
was back in 95/96 season.

The views were spectacular, until the clouds rolled in about 11:00am. Of course we were there for first tracks at 8:30am. MLK weekend will be our first trip of the year to Baxter State Park. We do an annual hike trip there with some friends to one of the many winter cabins there. We tend to avoid the holiday weekend crowds at ski resorts to do this, with today as an exception. We figure most people would be too hung over today for skiing...... ;)

Nice report. I was there today too, I wanted to hit Sunday River but a friend of mine wanted to hit Gunstock and seeing how he was willing to drive I wasn't going to argue. I had a real good time. Once the snow started to come down it just kept getting better and better.

I really like Gunstock - it's a "quick" drive to some good skiing and usually not too crowded even on weekends. Having said that, I was there on Dec 27th with my boys and one of the lift operator's said it was the busiest day he'd seen in ten years...a 20-minute wait to get on the learner's area lift! Good for them!
