there is a ton of lodging b/c of proximity to lake region. if you want national chain stuff - at exit 20 I think there is a new hampton inn (either a marriott or hilton property). if you stay at exit 20 - cannon/loon/waterville are all less than 60 minutes. also ragged is almost equi-distant from gunstock from that location.

Thanks Angus. Of course I have looked online and have seen a lot of places and reviews. I actually already made reservations that I could cancel at a Rodeway Inn off of exit 20. I was thinking someone might have a real personal recommendation here at AZ. Unfortunately, due to my kid's ski racing, we are going to only be at Gunstock for the skiing.

Gunstock is nicely situated at least 20 minutes away from any lodging.....

Actually, most of the closest are summer seasonal. The Margate Resort is probably the nicest/closest year round place.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn off of Exit 20 (in Tilton?) around New Years. Skied Ragged one day and Gunstock the next. Had a suite - one large bed and a pull out sleeper sofa. Small kitchenette (aka sink and fridge). Small pool area. Free breakfast buffett and they have stay and ski packages for both Ragged and Gunstock. About 15 minutes from Gunstock. 25 to Ragged.

A decent place to stay for a night or two.

I thought of the Margate as well. It would be nice to stay there if they had time to hang out at the pool.

If you're looking for less amenities, though, the Hampton Inn at exit 20 is new AND it's near outlet shopping. ; - )

Gunstock Inn is the closest place to the Mt. - 2 minutes away.
Marriot Courtyard is 5 minutes away in Gilford.

Never stayed at either but you know what you are getting with the Marriot.

Gunstock Inn seems like a mix between an actual Hotel and a Motor Lodge.

If you are looking for a place with amenities Steel Hill Resort, nice pool, family activities, but it is about a 1/2 hr away.

I thought of Margate but have only driven by...I spend nearly every weekend from memorial to labor day at a family cottage that looks out to Gunstock but I can't even recommend a restaurant given we never eat out!

Actually, there is a couple of restaurants (ninety-nine for example) at exit 20.

Stayed at Tilton Hampton Inn a few times, built within the past couple of years. Pool, breakfast, 25 minutes or so from Gunstock.

I'd also look at the new Townsuites Marriott in Gilford which is only 5 miles from Gunstock. Rooms have kitchens and would could come in handy if you're going to the Piche including the training days in terms of making own meals, etc.

Thanks Mike! In terms of amenities and price, this was a great suggestion. Made reservations.

Thanks HD: Gunstock Inn was sold out on one of the nights I need, Steel hill a bit far so I didn't check it, Marriot only had some smaller rooms at way high price.

If you need an economical place with kitchen facility, I have stayed at Misty Harbor Resort.

Thanks hirto. Misty Harbor looks wonderful, and the prices are not that crazy. Unfortunately, their cancellation policy is too stringent for me.

The Piche Race? Know some kids from Camelback will be there. What level?

Yes, Piche. Girls J4. But the thing is, she has not qualified yet. Top 6 at the New York Kandahar Champs on March 14 at Song Mt. will be the key. Just wanted to be prepared. I might have to cancel the whole thing if she isn't lucky enough to qualify. This ski racing thing is putting a lot of miles on the car and a big dent in my credit cards!

Good Luck and I know all too well what you mean about the cost and warn it only gets worse at the J-3 level. 2 girls I know will be running against her if she gets there.

Three seasons of her playing soccer costs me about the same as one weekend of ski racing~! As long as it stays fun, I guess.... I can only blame myself..... :dunce:
