Hey fellas - so for months I've been coding away on a fun little project, developing a brand new web resource for skiers called TrailMapCompare
It is meant to be:
- one convenient central location to quick-find any trail map
- functionality that makes it simple to browse nearby resorts
- functionality that makes it super easy to compare the terrain of different resorts you might be trying to decide between

I just dumped it to the server and I'm revealing this to you guys at AZ first - no one else knows I've been cranking away at this little project besides the people reading this thread, plus some friends here around boston

Where I could use help in checking over all the work:
-quality-checking before launch - make sure nothing breaks, basically. The site is quite large in terms of number of pages (something like 450 pages). I could use help from you guys to just browse through a bunch of the pages and report back if you see any bugs or issues (.i.e, page returns an error, trailmap that is out of date, or anything that looks funny). Let me know if you see anything needs to be fixed.

-if you think its a cool trail map platform, give it a 'like'. I know this site isn't officially launched yet, but some seed support is definitely nice.

Cool, thanks guys and let me know what you think.

the "compare" part:
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the "browsing history" column on the right side that lets you flick back and forth between resorts - basically to compare them next to each other

thanks guys for pointing out plattekill and sundown, they will be fixed.
anything else need an update?

Hey, this is very cool. I’ve been clicking around trying to break it and haven’t found any problems.

Some things I like:
- That it maintains a history and quick access to “previously viewed”
- Auto generation of a “nearby” list.
- Smart searching: I intentionally spelled some things wrong i.e. “Wild Cat” instead of “Wildcat” and it still found it.

Great work

Awesome idea!

Only thing i have to add is that rows set up like that and alphebetical don't work for me. Consider me a textbook lazy websurfer...

i saw that, i guess i just think of compare as 2 (or more) side by side.

its an addictive site though. Good for exploring and discovering little areas that are overlooked. I will definately be wasting some time with this one!!!!

I know it's mainly for trailmaps, but a few more stats like vert and what not would be cool.

Very cool.

Being from Ontario, I checked for local places. You have one from our fair province: Blue Mountain in Collingwood. It is listed in the "all US/Canada" section but it does not appear in the Eastern Canada Section, nor do you have a listing for Ontario in the "State" drop down. Which should read State/Province if you are including Canada. And if you are going to include one place in Ontario, then you might as well include some more...

Great resource, keep it going.

Using Firefox, the bottom line (Midwest and Southwest) of the header is cut off. I checked on Chrome and it was fine.

Very very cool.

Checked it out on my smartphone and can see that the positioning of some text overlaps, but I'm sure mobile isn't a top priority at this early stage.

I also echo the comment above about having some additional mountain stats. At this point, would love to have some weather and current snow conditions numbers as well.

Great work. I plan to refer to this often.

It's cool! I just clicked through a bunch of areas I haven't been to since college. I didn't realize that Big Mountain changed it's name to Whitefish

Magic mountain's trail map is out of date too, this years map has 2 "new" trails added.
