Just curious how many high schoolers are there on this forum, seems like there are a bunch of posts about college lately. Also if your a junior/senior where do you think your going to college, also what are you majoring in?

I think I'm the youngest on this board; I'm a Sophomore in High School. I'd like to go somewhere in the Northeast or Colorado.

I'm in an Executive MBA program, and working full time. Does that count, too, or are skibum and I alone in the "Too Stupid For Our Own Good" club?

So Austin, where are you looking to go?

So far I'm thinking about: U of Utah, St. Mikes, U of Vancouver, and U of Orono. Thats about it I think. My dream though is to find a decent school in interior British Columbia. Really haven't looked into to anything much yet though because I'm only a junior.

Austin, neat little article in my Sunday Globe about your sinking high school. At quick glance and not being an architect, looks like someone really messed up or cut corners on that project.

I'm not a teenager but I'm the mother of one that just went through the whole process. My son's main criteria when choosing a college was skiing. We looked at Simon Fraser and the University of British Columbia (both in Vancouver), UC Boulder, Colo State, Montana, Montana State, Ft Lewis College (Durango, CO) and Western State (Gunnison, CO).

He finally settled on Montana State and seems to be psyched to be going there. Cool town, big enough school but not too big, lots of like minded students, Bridger Bowl only 15 miles away.

The community and proximity to skiing were key factors for him. He's not sure what he wants to do, and is not that committed a student so he wasn't looking for any particular course of study. MSU fit him perfectly, they even have specialized dorm floors for those interested in the outdoors so the chances of him finding good friends and being motivated to do well in school are much higher.

I'm still a year away from High School....haven't even thought about the College process but just finished the High School one. I applied to a few private schools, and I've decided to go with the Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA.
I don't really like to post, I figured no one was anywhere near my age here. But I love skiing and it's interesting to read some of the threads, so that's why I joined.

AMAC2233 - welcome to AZ.com! Glad to have a younger perspective here. Feel free to post as often as you like. It's pretty mellow on this board.

One of my closest friends and another guy I used to work with both went to Belmont Hill, but this was back in the early/mid-70s. I'm sure things have changed quite a bit, but I hear it's a great school and they're both good guys, so it seems to have worked out.

Again, welcome to AlpineZone.com.........

MSU is a great school and in addition to Bridger, Big Sky is not too far. The one thing that sets it apart from the other schools/towns you mentioned is that Bozeman is a very very cold place. Make sure he packs alot of cold weather clothes.

I went to U Maine Orono a long time ago (Graduated in 77). At the time, I liked it. Looking back, I wish I had gone elsewhere. I have not been back since I graduated...and I doubt I will ever return. I've done well career-wise, but it seems more good fortune than the specific education.

Two of my kids (#1 and #3 sons) went to Northeastern...awesome school (actually, one is just finishing his 3rd year). The Co-Op program is fabulous. Boston as a collge town vs....Orono? No comparrison.

#2 son went to Worcester Poly Tech. Another quality education.

I am the youngest. I don't believe anyone here is anywhere below 7th grade. Yes I am still in middle school. Anyone younger should speak up. I like to snowboard so joined AZ.
