Christmas 1998 was a white one for NYC, I remember about 3" on the ground X-mas eve.

In 1989 and 2005 we had a white Thanksgiving. The 1989 storm turned into a monster south of Long Island and while we only got 4" of snow in Bayside, my friend in Dix Hills (Suffolk county) got 17".

cant be true...i live in central MA and I really cant rmember any white christmas. If there was snow it wasnt amountable.

Where have you been? We just had a White Christmas last year. And then there was that big Christmas Blizzard that couldn't have been anymore than 3 or 4 years ago. That's just since 2002, I'm sure there have been more than that...

How do they define a white christmas?

Snow on the ground or actual snowfall on christmas day.

If it is snow on the ground, I believe 50 - 75% for the NH seacoast.
