Late last night before repose my sweet heart called to me
"Darling, you should hurry
You should come to bed I'm cold
You shouldn't keep your baby waiting
You should be cooperating
You should learn to do the things you are told"
Something in her tone of voice
was something less than kind
This person telling me the things
I should or shouldn't do
A bell went off inside my head
I ran right up side that bed
I said "baby you should learn a thing or two-
Like you should squeeze the toothpaste from the end, not from the top
You should pay attention to those prices when we shop
I think you should know better than
To tell me things that I should do
Don't should on me and I won't should on you"

"And while we're on the subject
There are certain other things my dear,
You should be aware of
I should think you shouldn't show
Little things I'm sure of
But ones you should take care of
Like the way you think and everything you know
You should watch the things you eat
I think you're eating too much meat
I think that you should change the clothes you wear (Clothes you wear )
You should change your TV channels
Those polyester sheets to flannels
You should change the way you do your hair
I only want whats best for you
Why ever won't you listen
I should know by now what you should put your emphasis in
We should both know beller than
To tell each other what to do
Don't should on me and I won't should on you."

So nowadays we're less demanding
No hard feelings understanding
best regards sincerely yours, it's true
And when we stan to say "you should"
We stop because it's understood
Don't should on me and I won't should on you
Well I guess it's only human nature
Homosapien nomenclature
Minding everybody elses business but your own
With "you should this and you should that"
You know what I've been getting at
Sometimes we should leave well enough alone
This song is almost over
I'm amazed that we got through it
I know it was a shouldy job
But someone had to do it
We should all know better than
To tell each other what to do
Don't should on me and I won't should on you
Don't should on me and I won't should on you

After a year and a half of marriage... She calls me up and say - "I'm sick of this skiing stuff - either come home on the next flight or it's over"....

Something must've been running a little deeper than being bored with skiing.

Thanks Dr Phil... But no.. ;)

We actually went to a couple of consuling sessions and she admited that she thought I'd grow out of the skiing thing..
Which I never have any intentions of doing

After a year and a half of marriage... My EX-wife did that to me..
We met and skied together - went to Europe and skied... Went to Colorado and skied with her family. She bought me ski stuff for Xmas... It was all very cool..

Then I was in Jackson Hole with friends - she couldnt make the trip. We were 3 days into the trip and it was DUMPING outside... She calls me up and say - "I'm sick of this skiing stuff - either come home on the next flight or it's over"....

Needless to say - I did not go home... And the marriage ended...

You can't change someones escense... It's just not right...

DMC’s answer touched my very soul. I am profoundly moved by it. I’m having one right now in your honor bro. You did the exact right thing.

At my age I won’t be having any more kids, but if I did have another son I would name him DMC. Now, I grant you that that name might get him teased in school, as it would be hard to pronounce, but when he was old enough to understand I’d explain to him why he got DMC as a name. I know he would be proud.

As I wipe away a tear of joy, I realize I need to honor DMC with another beer.

I wouldn't go THAT far..
But - You know people have escences that make up who they are... If your truely in love with someone - you understand that and support...

I make no bones about it - going into a relationship I let it all out.. I know lots of guys that hide - this and that - and when those things come out it's ugly..

I don't do ultimatums. Of any kind. You can always reach a compromise, and if not....

Later, Gator.....

Um..you don't do ultimatums...so you in the next breath you say, "if not, later gator."?

Just busting chops...maybe its me...I just found it a bit weirdly worded.

Peace

or else...

:D I think its the "if not" part that makes it seem odd. Of course, I could have said, I don't do ultimatums, so you can either accept that, or leave.

My wife Claudia is Jamaican; never even saw snow until she came to the US. Had never seen a ski resort until she met me. She didn't understand the concept of air conditioning in the summer!

But Claudia is very open minded; she got used to the colder weather here and now loves the change in season and winter (except for the driving). She isn't into skiing like I am, but she has learned to ski and loves tooling around intermediate terrain with the kids. Anything you find at a ski resort she's into, and she wants us to retire somewhere in VT/NH.

What's more important is that she supports what I like to do and I support her hobbies. Before I met Claudia the idea of gardening or landscaping was foreign to me. Now we do all that stuff together in the warmer months. I can even go shopping for a day and not complain.

It's simple...live and let live. No leashes or rules, no feelings that one or the other should grow out of something. Easy to say, hard to actually do.

I'm a lucky man  .

...and you wonder why I have chosen to remain single?

If I could find a guy that was as passionate about skiing as I am though,(and if he were that passionate about me too)the case might be different.

I live to ski...that is known right up front.

Are you kidding?

I'll assume you're a lady skiier.

Are you kidding?

Where do you live?

Are you a teacher?

Mid 20's?

Are you kidding?

EDIT: I got the where

Are you kidding?

And you take kids on trips? I mean I coach everything (because my wife thought the other coaches were insane). That's a big deal (except for the part about wanting to tease the riders). But still...do you have nieces and nephews you do this for?

Are you kidding?

Really wasn't an ad!

Yes, I am a female! I'm in my 40's and if you were to go to my site http://teachski.com you could find a couple pictures of me. But again...this was not intended as an ad!

I gotta say, that's a nice site.

You gotta a lot of my stickers...they're all on my Thule coffin...

Never seen anyone else with the Sunday River Black diamond sticker..

I don't see a whiteface sticker....as matter of fact I had to make one out of a bumper sticker from a ski shop...

Can you believe that

I like the Okemo one...All they had when I was there last was a stupid "Changing the face of skiing" which is now peeling off anyway...

And Hunta...FINALLY last year they started selling stickers...only been asking for the at least the last 10 years...

Nostalgia tour

Hey Teachski I really enjoyed the nostalgia tour on your website. I got a real kick out of the vintage flyers and brochures. Thanks for the effort.

I've got a couple Sunday River Black Diamond Stickers (I think). Let me look. If I find them would you like one?

I'd love one if anyone could find one...even a scan would be great!

I don't think I have a Hunter one, but I would love one. I may have a couple Okemo stickers as well as the other areas. I actually have a whole bunch of new ones to scan and get on the site. I've been busy with brochures, booklets and research.

School is starting now... Teachers go back tomorrow (this means me)...so uploading to my site may slow down a little. Thanks for the great compliments though.
Laurie

P.S. I have TONS more to put on still.

Thanks! I've had a great time finding things and putting it up to share. Others have been great contributing a lot of stuff too!

OK, sorry to have stolen the thread, time to get back on track.

Like I said...I think, therefore, I am single.
No one tells me where and when I can go skiing, I am my own boss. It's great!
