any one else noticing the trend that people who enjoy natural snow runs, bumps, and trees tend to prefer non-detaches?

Could not agree more, also we ski wildcat, cannon, jay, mrg, sugarbush, the loaf, pico, and burke(although I have never skied there) I am forced to ski on weekends due to work. I'll tke wildcat with the red parker anyday, keep killington and mt snow, stratton, ect. I really don't enjoy skiing there

I think it is just the case that non-detaches typically service expert terrain.

Detatchables tend to service primarily intermediate terrain. The reason? The bulk of the skiers visiting ski areas are intermediate skiers. Ski resorts want to make their experience at the mountain as pleasurable as possible. Detachables minimize exposure to the cold and wind due to faster transport times. In addition, they are far more user friendly to the average family visiting a resort.

Ski areas haven't spent the money upgrading lifts servicing experts because, in general, they do not demand the same posh treatment as most skiers. Why spend extra millions on customers who crave the terrain and not the amenities?

To answer the poll question-- I prefer detachables but my favorite terrain is typically serviced by non-detaches.
