Conditions: hard-packed, packed powder, icy spots; much better coverage on many more trails than a couple weeks ago
Weather: Partly sunny, mid-20s, I'm guessing.A big change from the fog/rain my last trip.

Report: I finally managed to ski with some AlpineZoners, making the day a lot of fun. I skied for basically the whole day with Tyrolean_skier, and some of the the morning also with her and SkiDork's kids (unfortunatey SkiDork was unable to ski himself). Then during the afternoon we also met up with Eski (and a friend), dmc (and at least one friend), and for a run or two, Jim G. and his kids. It made the day far more fun, and hopefully I'll have a chance to ski with them again or other AZ'ers this season :)

As for the conditions, the coverage almost everywhere was excellent. The surface was generally hard packed, with some softer snow at the edges (dmc was quite good at staying way, way, way over). Most of the double black runs had large, awkward bumps in some places that were tough for a non-mogul expert to get any lines in--so I won't be putting a post in the bump thread, but Lower K-27, Upper Crossover, Racer's, and probably some others did have moguls. I really can't remember which had the best/most-consistent lines, but in that one sense (bump lines) the rainy day a couple weeks back was better. Overall, of course, I'd definitely take today :)

Claire's was probably the run of the day and we probably did that about half a dozen times. Otherwise we covered most of the mountain throughout the day.

Nice to hook up for a fast run down Clair's kcyanks1 and nice to meet you!

Best bumps were on left side of Upper Crossover and left edge of Racer's.

Good to meet ya... You got some skillz :)

Thanks :) You, too. It's good to know that at least on in-bounds terrain at Hunter I can keep up with some other AZ skiers ... it can be intimidating reading all the posts of accomplishments in here :)

Wish I knew there was a gathering... I was on the F lift around 9:00am after my slacker friends finally put all of their stuff on... Upper K-27 had some nice stuff along the right side. Didn't think Clair's was that good until I reached the lower portion where the snow below the Z lift was great... Minya had some great stuff around noon when everybody went in for lunch and the run was completely empty leaving Minya to Lower Crossover to be a great run...

You gotta know where to get the snow...
At the top - either the left side of RIGHT under the chair...
At the doughnut - I always take the left side but stay right...
Then in the middle - I drop back to the left side and stay there until the chair...

I don't think it was planned to be that big but mostly happened by luck. SkiDork posted something Sat. PM in the AZ forums, and I replied. So I met up with Tyrolean_skier (his wife) and their children at around 9:45am or so. She knew some of the others, and in the afternoon we happened to run into Eski, dmc, and Jim G., in that order. It would've been great if you could've joined us too. I know on my end that next time I'll have to try and make a decision to go earlier, so I can make better use of the Trips forum.

Thanks, next time I'll just have to follow a local around...

I should post my trips up to the Catskills too. I tend to just head up and not thinking about an AZ gathering... After I get back from Vail next week I plan on hitting Hunter for another 6-10 days... 15 if we make it through mid April and will certainly post a gathering under the trips event. Glad to see everybody enjoyed the conditions as much as I did.
