Did anybody else get stuck when I-93 got closed for about 1.5 hours on New Year's Day? I had skied Cannon for a few hours in the morning ,and then the snow started falling earlier (and much harder) then I expected, so I decided to try to get home. Somewhere between exits 24 and 23 (just south of Plymouth), there apparently was some big pileup and they wound up closing I-93 south bound for 75 minutes or so. I got stuck about 100 yards behind where all the excitement was (I walked up at one point to see what was going on).

There was obviously some really limited visibility, but I'm guessing I-93 must have been backed up forever? The north-bound lanes were visible... it seems like a car was going north once every minute or two.

Once they finally got I-93 open again it was a royal mess from there down to Concord. After that it was pretty smooth sailing.

The Union-Leader had just one sentence about it:
"State police temporarily shut down traffic on a southbound stretch of I-93 at Exit 24 for plowing after it was deemed impassable."

That must have been a different incident, as I-93 was not even remotely plowed when they re-opened it for me. When I walked up to see what was going on, it was a mass of tow trucks, ambulances and fire-trucks.

That said, it doesn't surprise me that they closed it again, as it was really sketchy going from where I got stuck down to Concord. Getting out of the tire tracks of the vehicle in front spelled trouble.

I was right there. I turned around on 93 right after exit 25 took 3 to 132 to 3 to 3a to the everett turnpike. 6.5 hours from the River to get home. At least I know Why I sat there. Glad I was near a turn u turn. Kept looking back at 93 at each potential entry point and just kept going. I heard those coming from 89 to 93 had bigger nightmares.
