Heli skiing in the deepest powski in BC
Not for just a day: "tomorrow"!I don't get all the Alps people.. I mean of course there's the opportunity for huge open bowls and pow fields (and crazy vertical), but no glades, and don't you think all that open space would get boring after a while? .
This is a cool thread! I don't get all the Alps people.. I mean of course there's the opportunity for huge open bowls and pow fields (and crazy vertical), but no glades, and don't you think all that open space would get boring after a while? In the Rockies/BC/Alaska you can have the best of both worlds... especially if you throw a sled, cat, or heli in the mix ($$$) =) Ask most who have a lot of experience with both and they will tell you the Rockies/BC/AK are the best on earth.
Not all Euro resorts are expensive. In fact, depends on the air fair you manage to snatch, it can be cheaper skiing Europe than out west.Euro trips are still much more expensive than trips out west (mainly due to airfare), and the resorts are that much harder to get to. By the way, there are trees to be found in the alps, but they aren't featured the way they are here.

Water skiing? It's summer right now.
Assuming conditions were good as well....
Places I've been with good conditions: Tignes-Val d'Isere
Anywhere with money no object: CMH heli skiing

But Zermatt is expensive. And the strong Swiss Franc doesn't help.
That said, Whistler is a close runner up, given the current strong CAN$.
Guess I don't have a clue where that "cosy brown town" is ...The airfare is what makes it expensive. For us at least, it essentially makes the trip cost 60% more than what a Colorado or Utah trip would cost.
That topic came up when I was in Boston last weekend at a dental convention talking with one of my former classmates about dream trips that we should do one day. Apparently CMH is already sold out through their 2012-13 season and the majority of their "primetime" for the 2013-14 season!!And after hearing what a week goes for, my wife's comment was somethine to the extent of: Well that will mean that i'm going to get to go on one heck of a "girls trip" somewhere if that boy's trip happens
I think the line that my friend told me was something like "if we're lucky it will cost 'only' about a grand a day!"
