IKON renewal perks- which one?

So IKON is adding the following renewal perks. The perks are the following and my understanding is that you get to pick one:

Mountain Credits (reported to be $25/month up to $300 per season)
Backcountry.com credit (reported to be $100)
Marriott Bonvoy free night award
Free Gear Rental from Ski Butlers
Pass renewal Discount (reported to be $50)

I logged on to my account but can't get any further details.

It seems to me that the resort credit is the way to go. Am I missing something?

I don't see that I would get value from the $25/month credit thing. The credit expires/resets every month so you'd have to spend the $25 each month to get that value. I rarely spend money at the resort. And spending simply because I have credits isn't really "saving" me anything.

Honestly for me the majority of these are kind of useless and I'd likely go with the renewal discount option. I'd still prefer the same level of renewal discounts we had previously instead of these new choices.

Yea you’re a sugarbush homeowner who doesn’t travel around. To me the 25k bonvoy points is the winner. That gets me a really nice room in Burlington

Around Xmas time I stayed at the delta by Marriott in south burlington, and they had a promo where you picked an ornament off the tree and it included a prize of bonvoy points. The desk person was distracted and didn’t see that I was looking on the rear of every ornament where they wrote the points. I saw many for 500-5000 points. I saw one for 25000 points. I took that one. She was like WOAH I DIDNT REALIZE THERE WERE ANY GOOD PRIZES

Backcountry $100 credit could be an option...was thinking about buying a pair of Hestra Mittens for super cold days. Although was also planning to use my accumulated REI member credits towards those for next season.

I assume the mountain credits are only good at the Altera owned properties? Based on that I would not get much value from that since I'm not going to any of their properties in the offseason and I don't typically get to Stratton or Bush more than 3 months out of the year ($75). I'll probably take the $100 Backcountry credit after I comb through the fine print to make sure it's not too restrictive to use such as only being eligible for full priced items and excluding certain brands. As CD said, I'd rather just the normal renewal credit we used to get. Actually the Bonvoy points is probably my best bet.

Fair point...I'll need to comb through the fine print on the backcountry one as well before making a decision.

The mountain credit one is absolutely setup to benefit Alterra. It sounds enticing on paper so a bunch of people will go for it. But then people won't end up using it all or will use it to make purchases they wouldn't have really made in the first place.

Most notable (for me) is that you have to spend at least $100 to use one code and you can't combine Ikon credits on one purchase (e.g. I couldn't use 4 codes toward a new ski setup).

I tried to do a quick search on the Marriott Bonvoy points. Unfortunately, it's not set up so you can transfer the points to your Bonvoy account. I couldn't find a hotel in Boston where 25000 points gets you a room let alone NYC. You need at least 45000.

I also don't think it's set up so Marriott lets you convert the points to dollars. For instance, you couldn't get $250 off of a $400 stay. If it did, I may go for that.

I rode up with someone on the lift this past weekend who said that a place in the Stratton village was charging $16-18 for a beer. So yeah, $25 won't buy much, but it would buy a round of waffles and hot chocolate.

nyc is one of the most expensive hotel markets there is and we're entering the season where prices go up in nyc. that 45000 point room probably costs like $350+ a night.

the AC Hotel in burlington next saturday night is 25k. the revelstoke fairfield marriot next weekend is 23k. etc. the perk is basically one night at a typical mid market marriott you would find at or near a ski area

Has anyone used ski butlers before? I want to try skiing again but the cost of renting/demoing something that i may just take off after one run puts me off. I have zero knowledge of what I would need for boots. Will they shelp a bunch of boots up to my room at la quinta and have me try them on?

Careful of all the fine print. I believe the Marriott has to be booked by end of July. Stay can be later but booking must occur by the deadline.

I buy a $400 dollar ikon base pass as an add-on with my Snowbird senior pass. I don't think I qualify for any of this? I did get $60 in mtn credits this season for skiing Solitude three or more times in Feb. Probably gonna spend that on lunch with the wife before season ends.

Oh god… I bought a whole set up at Alpine Options like 10 years ago. Think I made three runs, haven’t used them again. I actually brought all that crap to the mountain last weekend because the Lynx is trying to ski again, could not bring myself to try even though she did. And she did well too! Maybe you have a friend with boots you can borrow. Those things are so incredibly uncomfortable It does not matter where you get them. Or find some of those boots that have an external plastic shell, look comfortable and hear they can be found cheap, which they are not. I fully intend to be the 70 year old snowboarder drinking beers at the bar for free with my mountain credits! You’re crazy!!!

One thing that I noticed that hasn't been mentioned is that for the base pass the renewal credit is only $25 and the mountain credit is only $10/month for 12 months. Even as a Sugarbush homeowner who does spend money at the resort the credits are still not appealing. Just seems unnecessarily complicated to track the credits each month...the backcountry credit is $75 and there is no Marriott benefit.

We also got the $60 credit (each) while in Utah. Surprisingly we can use these back home in Vermont at Sugarbush. Expecting the multiple restrictions..

Never used them personally, but it's a local company & I know they are very well thought of.

They even got their own spot at the new Mayflower, and Deer Valley doesnt sign crappy vendors.
