You'll need to provide more details, before anyone can respond appropriately?
1. level of skier you are - what do you like to ski?
2. level of skiing you want, type of terrain, variety.
3. Tolerance for spending money - cheap to luxurious
4. daytrip or stayover?
5. tolerance for travel - where are you, how much time do you want to spend in transit?
6. apres-ski activities?
7. when do you plan to travel?

I agree with billski regarding the above questions except the one about skier level. Check the thread starters screen name... ;-)

ski and stay package

I'd go to some of the resorts' websites and look for "ski and stay" packages. Often areas will offer midweek deals where you get a room and a lift ticket for $70 or so. A pretty sweet deal since the lift ticket alone usually approaches $70!

If your looking for mainly blues and under and no bumps midweek then Pokemo or Flatton would be good bets in southern VT. Weekends they can get crowded but both good for what you are seeking.

Boarders know what you mean ..at work people will ask me how was skiing the past weekend and I always answer excellent.. The courts did rule that snowboarding is a form of skiing so your first statment about skill level was correct.

i tend to use the term skiing as an umbrella term..
to me it's all skiing...

me too, glad i'm not the only snowboarder that does/thinks that. when i tell people up here that i went "riding" they think I went snowmobiling, so skiing definately is the more appropriate verb.

With cheap criteria, this chef recommends MRG, Burke, Magic, Pico (thurs-fri only). You might also enjoy Cannon or hoof it up to Saddleback ME. Midweek lodging can be cheap if you are willing to stay away from the slopes, i.e., Econolodge, super8, etc.

Mid Feb - be careful to avoid Mass. school vacation week (pres. day week) Not only will there be lift lines, they will charge holiday rates.)

For the future, hook up with a ski club, buy tickets from them at bulk rate. I end up paying $20-39 for most of the above. Most areas aer moving away from cheaper midweek tix, so bulk rates are a good deal, if you can do a little advance planning. I usually give away (or barter) for what I don't use. Requires summertime $ commitment, but it's damn cheap.
