The actual data contains latitude and longitude down to the second. So if someone got ahold of it, they could tell when you are out of the house most, or what routes you travel daily, and how often you like to visit the strip club, etc ...

It would have to be an app on the iPhone - the location files come over when the device is backed up.
My MAC is safe so I don't think anyone is going to grab these files off of it.. And now I encrypt my iPhone backups...

A "Trojan" would have to be installed on the iPhone and given the tight development rules I doubt it's going to happen unless you "jail break".

I'd love to see what mine looks like (Android) but haven't seen an app for android yet...

I don't like being tracked either, but I dislike it less if I can see what is being tracked.

Not that I have anything to decide, but I like the Fourth Amendment, thankyouverymuch... (Not that this is the government tracking you, but I'm guessing they could quite easily get the data if they wanted it.)

I use Google Latitude on my phone voluntarily. I have probably 5 or 6 friends that use it, so we know where each other are. It's especially useful when we want to meetup, I don't have to call and say "how far away are you" you can just see where they are.

That said I'm pretty sure I had to opt-in to that. I'm not worried about location tracking but I don't like that it can be done sans-permission.
