Is 3D overrated?

Better than an Omni movie?

After seeing several movies in the Mugar Omni theatre, I have to say I was less than impressed the first time I saw a standard IMAX film. Omni rocks.

My wife saw Avatar in Vegas at an IMAX 3D theatre in January, and she's still raving about how phenomal the experience was (and also how disappointed she was after re-watching it *only* on the 50" plasma/blu-ray last night  )

I saw it in an IMAX 3D theater, too, and was generally underwhelmed by the movie overall. Some of the 3D gimmicks were keen, but still just gimmicks.

As for 3D in general, length and width are fine, I guess, but do we really need height? If it weren't for height, The Learning Channel might show more programs without "Little" in the title. Of course, "Narrow People, Wide World" and "Narrowest Chocolate" probably wouldn't play as well.

I must admit, Im a sucker for sweet TV's. I got hammered and dropped a G on my 42" HD LCD tv a couple years back and have loved every damn second I spend in front of it. If you like to watch sports, theres nothing better. Truthfully, I haven't bought tickets to a game since Ive owned the thing, its freaking awesome.

3D on the other hand, maybe itll be sweet, but the whole glasses thing is retarded.

Praise our eternal creator for the mute button... I'll go to extreme ends to find a tv screen where I don't have to wear glasses in the house...(insert rolleyes..). I already have two pair...plus sunglasses....(insert rolleyes..)

I dropped $2400 about 9 years ago on a samsung 42 inch plasma. That sucker lasted 6 months past the warranty and then it would have cost a min of $900 to fix so I picked up a Vizio 42 lcd 1080 for $500 instead

I took a hard look at 3D plasmas before buying a couple of 2D plasmas. I don't care for it. I watched the new Harry Potter movie yesterday and opted for 2D over 3D in the theater.
