Let's try this again! I fell asleep in my chair last night posting this report from jetlag and the Campari I was drinking(Duty Free Shop).
Dates skied:
Bormio 3/4-5
Santa Caterina 3/6
Bormio 3/7
Santa Caterina Gavia Pass Tour 3/8
Livigno 3/9
Santa Caterina XC Skiing 3/10
We started off our trip in Italy at the Malpensa Airport which is on the outskirts of Milan. After picking up our rental, a Mercedes Vito 9 passenger van we headed into Milan to do a little sight seeing for the afternoon. We saw the famous Duomo
And later a protest complete with Riot Police!
The next day we drove to Venice and walked around for the afternoon
Then it was off to the town of Bormio located in Northern Italy in the Alps between Austria and Switzerland.
Bormio is also know as a Roman spa town with it's hot springs so we hit the Spa's a couple of times after skiing.
Unlike some of the other area's in the Alps Bormio had some super warm weather over the past few weeks so the base was a little weak and we had to be careful when skiing off piste.
We were off to a great start with fresh snow on 3/4!
Skiing low angle Santa Caterina Pow 3/6
Santa Caterina Gavia Pass Tour 3/8- It was a flat light day so we climbed up the Gavia Pass Road (Giro Route)
Last Alpine day in Livigno 3/9 a few days after the last storm we still had fresh tracks to ski!
