Anybody know anything about this area? This is about all the detail I have at the moment for where my father-in-law has invited us to go in February. I'm not p on reading European ski sites, so I'm having some trouble figuring out how it is. I mean, 3200 feet of vertical sounds great, adn the snowfields on the map I coul find looks good, and I know that without cut trails 19 trails and 16 lifts isn't really a problem, but still, anyone know anything about it?

Doesn't sound familiar, but it's been thirty years since I lived there.

Here's a link that helps me...maybe not you:

http://www.emmeti.it/Welcome/Trentino/Andalo/index.uk.html

IF...IF this link is correct and by "western" paloginno Valley they mean "Trento"....I've skied there.

The description in the link talks about the highway between Modena and the Brenner Pass....I've driven that road....awesome.

Pack your bags and enjoy. If you speak either German or Italian (or can remember any of your High School Spanish)...you will fit right in, although when I was there...the locals seemed to enjoy practicing their English.

Be a gracious guest and you'll have fun.

Please post pictures when you get back.

I think that's the one, Sky. It's still a big "if", though, on going.
My high school Spanish will be tested next week in Mexico City. Hopefully it'll hold.

When we lived there (in Vicenza), we used to go to Mt Bondone.

You could drive to the sub-summit, ski down for free, grab a pass and jump on the lift. The actual summit (which I only tried once) was over 3KM. I've got one of those little pins from the shop somewhere. The summit was just an ungroomed bump...a few hundred meters higher than the upper parking lot.

We used to stay at the hotel just across the street from the lift @ the bottom of the slope. Great memories @ that place.

They had at least one bar 1/2 way down. You'd stop in, get a "toast" (which was a small toasted ham and cheese sandwhich)...and usually a "hot wine". Good stuff.

I've got to get back thre some day....although I'd prefer Modonna Di Campiglio...more easterly I think.
