I'm hittting the Hole this Sat. Beside the Mangy Moose and Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, what are some good suggestions for Happy Hour and dinner, at the mountain or in town?

Billy's Burgers right next to the Cowboy has huge awesome burgers. It's a tiny place but the wait is worth it. Love the waffle fries. Unless you have a big appitite go for the Betty.

BTW, only gapers/tourons actually sit on the saddles in the Cowboy.

Business is way down this winter so you should find all the restaurants and bars not too crowded. Too bad your not there on Sunday night cause partying at the The Stagecoach out in Wilson is legendary.

If you like steaks the Gunbarrel is good, Sweetwaters is good food and for italian Nani's is awesome in Jackson. The Mangy Moose is a great place for apres-ski, partying all night and for dinner. The Silver Dollar Bar around the corner from the Cowboy in the Wort Hotel has a popular Happy Hour.

In the town of Jackson I like the Teton Steak House . I recommend the Teton Steak with Salad Bar. The Salad Bar is awesome. This has got to be my favorite place to eat in Jackson for a reasonable price.

Bubbas BBQ is great. Bring your own beer. Wyoming law says any beer you bring in you can not leave with. Hey you can always make multiple trips to the car.

A little more upscale and well prepared food at a reasonable price ( great chefs) is the Rendezvous Bistro. I highly recommend this place. Call and make a reservation.

The Gun Barrel is an experience you have to try. Its not cheap but you got check this place out at least once. I have gone there a few times. I don't recommend the ELK. I hunt and I like well prepared Venison at home. I have not had a GREAT - Elk dinner yet at the Gun Barrel. The Gun Barrel has many other great dinners to chose from. Then again it could be just my taste. I believe they also take reservations.

If you have anymore Jackson Hole Questions check out forums over at EpicSki . Lots of great Jackson Hole Information over there from local Bob Peters. Bob use to be a guide for JHMR. His posts always have great information on JHMR.

Enjoy your trip.

The Elk can be tough, but the elk chops are loin chops at the gunbarrel and very tender the times I've had it. The Buffalo prime rib is the shizzle, as is the venison. Agreed, you gotta try the Gunbarrel at least once.

There was another relatively new steakhouse about a block east of town square. I can't remember the name of it, but it was good. Could that be the Teton Steakhouse?

Teton Steak House has poor quality steaks...think Ponderosa..just my opinion..you get what you pay for. On mountain check out the Alpenhof and The Mangy Moose..in town sheck out Shogun sushi on Broadway..

Yup the Teton Steakhouse is 2 blocks from town square if I remember right. When I get lost in Jackson I always end up going out to the Elk Refuge.

I agree the Elk chops are definitely better than the Elk Stew. I was not entirely satisfied with the taste of the Elk Chops. I also like the Buffalo. To each his own. Everybody is different.

I was siting for 3 hours in a plane at Jackson Hole airport. They kept trying to repair the plane. Everyone on the plane was getting hungry and kept talking about Billy's burgers. When the airline decided to put us up into a hotel that night. My buddy went checked into the hotel and went right to Billy's.

Yep, that's it. Place was awesome. Great game and great sausages (bison, venison, duck, etc.) Pricey though, but that's Jackson.

I'd like to try Burkes out..in Jackson, I figure I spent all that $$$$ for airfare, lodging and lift tickets..I'm not gonna cheap out on food. There is a Wendys and Taco Bell in town..

Yeah man, try Burkes. I sat at the bar and ate and there were hottie cougars everywhere, but not local cougars. You know what they say, "In Jackson you don't get a girlfriend, you get a turn."

Yep, that be Jackson Hole. There are more horses in town than there are women. Like I said, you get a turn, not a girlfriend.
