Conditions: Slick early, heavy snow squalls after noon for ~2 new inches, 20s
Trip Report:
So in the past 4 weeks, I've been in Orlando for 8 days, New Orleans for 7 days, and not enjoying winter for about any of them. Also it hasn't really been a bad January to miss lol. I did have 3 ski days in there... the 7th at Wachusett, the 18th at Burke and yesterday at Burke. Those 2 days at Burke were only groomers as they were both after freezing rain events (I hear they opened up some natural stuff today... that'll be nice) and not the prettiest days. The new HSQ is wonderful though, besides trying to get back to it if coming off the Sherburne. Anyway... on to Jay.
Relatively warm day unless you were in the direct line of fire of the wind (looking at you freezer and top of Bonnie), and early on the sun was out. Stateside was sking the best all day as far as woods and natural go. Everything over on tramside was a sheet by 10. Stuff was getting roped due to the boiler plate. Beaver Pond was real slick too and wasn't worth turning into an icicle on the freezer. Canyonland and Bonnie Glade were decent, but the best woods were Timbuktu and Kitz/Hells.
Around noon the snow came with a vengeance. Didn't make it all that much better (not to mention made it harder to see where the boilerplate was underneath), but some of the woods freshened up nicely. Crowds were small all day... waited in one line at the Jet due to a crowd from the race, but that was ski-on otherwise as were Bonnie and the Flyer... the Tram was a 1-cycle wait when I rode it.
Might be at Burke tomorrow pending tonight's snowfall and stuff around school.
