Weather: Cloudy and cool. Once pass the Tram tower, it got breezy and cold!!!!

I got the chance to ski Jay on Friday. We stopped at tramside, a lot has changed since last April!!. I had to go to customer service to obtain my season pass from another mountain discount. It was a 20 minute wait in a line to get this. When it was my turn, I got the Vermonter rate of $49 due to much of the amount not being opened. So, I did not need my pass. Since this is my first visit of the season I had to buy the RIFD card. I really like the concept of this and how the gate opens to the lift to let you through.

After the purchase, I was dropped off over at stateside to ski until 3pm. I took the Jet triple for the first few runs. There were three ways down from the top, Jet (had some bumps near the liftline), Haynes (I think that was it), and to the right to get to the tramside or Angel's Wiggle to get back to the quad or to the triple. I did a couple of runs here, one on Northway back to the Angel's Wiggle and then the Upper Goat and headed to the Tramside area. Nothing really exciting mostly hardpack and some icy patches.

I took the Green Mountain Flyer Quad for the bulk of my skiing. Basically, the same trails, Northway, Goat Run, Interstate. You could only go left off of the quad. I would ski back over to the stateside and ski off of the triple and then go back to the tramside. I took the T-bar and skied down the Queen's Highway trail to go back to the tramside. That was the quickest way to get back.

The one thing that I did not do was ride the tram. I was going to do it at 2pm but it looked closed & never saw it go back up. I did see people walk to the entrance and turn away. I guess I have to wait until my next trip. I liked the upscale Tram Haus lodge & Alice's Table. I kind of got lost trying to find the cafeteria. I took a few pictures:

1. Tram summit from near the top of the Bonnaventure Quad
2. Looking at Stateside
3. I think this is the Haynes Trail (Stateside)
4. Looking again at Stateside later in the day as it was clearing up
5. The tram passing by.

I'm finding this true all over New England. Without snowmaking, we would be out of action.
My upcoming TR's are going to sound a lot like yours, and the pics won't look much different either!

We really need natural snow.

So true. Can't complain too much though, my 2 day trips this past week cost me $16 combined for lift tickets. Gas was more expensive than the tickets! Pray for the storm supposedly coming on wednesday!

Weekend was average... not much snow... everything is too thin to ride without damaging the boards...

Expo glade was the only fun glade with plenty of snow... but it was close.
JFK was awful. Icy bumps and lots of exposed grass and rocks... but it was open.

Off the Jet, they closed the Haynes for a race... so only the Jet was open.

Conditions were nicer on sunday afternoon with a little bit of new snow but nothing too exciting... we need snow... wind started to pick up today and trails were swept clean... thos that only had a few inches on them are mostly back to grass again... we need wet snow to start building a decent base... no more of the light fluffy stuff!
