Had a day off from school today and a trip to Jay couldn't have come at a better time. They've picked up a few feet in the past week or so plus a few inches last night. Skied hard from 9:30-4:00 today. Woods are all in great shape... a few rocks poking out in a few places but most of it is just pillows of powder and soft troughs and all kinds of good stuff. Valhalla, Timbuktu, Vertigo, and Canyonland were my favorites, but there weren't any that I'd say I wouldn't hit again. Non-blue groomers were great as well... Jet, CanAm, etc were awesome. Rocky trails like Powerline and River Quai are getting there... can't recommend them if you like your skis but they were fun with rock skis. Face still doesn't have anything open (besides Valhalla) but a few more dumps will get those going. Overall, the place is in absolutely awesome shape. Weather was great as well with temps in the 30s. I'll be back on Sunday. Really want to see Burke pick up more snow... they've had a rough go of it the past month (although some natural stuff is coming online finally... East Bowl was great yesterday).

How did the snow do with the temps? Thinking about hiking the local BC this weekend but I am concerned the powder probably compacted with temps in the 30s today...

It compacted a little bit but there's still plenty to go around.

Have fun on the White Mountain Express. I love those retired firefighters that run it, albeit I regret not going on their trips for awhile (I did make one day at their competitor from the other side of town). I have many great stories to tell about them, but I'll let you experience it all. I remember going to Killington that one guy on it was selling goombay be gone bracelets as a way of making a joke out of selling bracelets for charity commemorating the Goombay smahes from the Grist Mill. I need to make one of their trips soon, although I have been busy redeeming Waterville vouchers (wish more buses ran up there). They are always very hospitable and they know how to party as they are quite entertaining.

Skied until noon today. Temps never got above freezing on the mountain. Still found untracked soft pow on my last run.

Very nice. I was at Jay Friday morning and thought conditions were the best they have been all year. I did a whole bunch of Dip laps and was getting untouched snow and soft landings!

Great day to be there!
