I went up there with my super fast snowboarding friend because I said f*ck going to Sunapee again lets go somewhere I'll show you that's way better.

So we go in his car and headed to Jay... got there like 9:30AM so had all day to ski.

The Ridge was closed. Tuck Chutes were closed. Bummer. But everything else was open.

Green Beret and Valhalla was super sick... plenty of powder and fresh tracks and also super steep and narrow sections. I loved it. My showboarder friend didn't like it as much ;)

Everglade and Staircase were mostly untracked and beautiful.

Over towards the The Jet things were a bit more slick.

Kit's Woods and Hells Woods were two of my favorite.. the lines were real tight.

Surface conditions were an 8/10 overall...

too bad Tucks / Face / The Ridge were closed. But I will be back up there in a month or so and booking an overnight with my farther who loves to ski woods. Should be better then.

Last time I skiied Jay was like some time in May of last year and the Ridge was still open and it was awesome...

Jay has some sick terrain I'm glad I got to explore more different parts of the mountain this time.

It's funny that the ridge trails were closed on Sunday because that is where JPR took their Sunday Facebook powder shots... the only place they could still find untracked on Sunday and say "hey, there is still untracked pow!"

I was there Saturday and it was a nice 5" powder day. I debated skiing off the ridge but decided against it due to the firm scraped hard pack under the powder and some off map shots not being filled in yet. Maybe it was truly epic off the ridge but I still think those Sunday FB pics were irresponsible.

They have a habit of doing that don't they? I seem to remember them doing similar stuff in the past, posting pics a few days after a storm in places that were either closed to the public or "off map".

Yea, but it usually isn't quite so blatant and in an area that has questionable base and could be a safety issue. Hey, for all I know the snow up there was the best on the mountain and the underlying icy hard pack wasn't an issue. Maybe I lost out for not trying it. But skiing off the ridge on 40* slopes with a scraped and icy base even under the pow just didn't seem like a good idea to me on Saturday. Either I'm a fool or a great Monday Morning QB.

Sorry no pics I was too worried about having my keys flew out of my pocket somewhere between there and Sunapee to bust out the cam.

Just enjoyed a day of great skiing. Had to miss a day of work to get new keys at the Suby dealership.

I now have a much more secure method of holding onto my car keys :p

I doubt I topped 45mph the whole time at Jay... it was more about catching fresh powder spots and making our way through the woods. Some of the woods are pretty easy but some of them are gnarly as fuck.
