Resort: Jay Peak, Vt.

Conditions: Boilerplate, Ice-cookies, then spring snow.

Trip report: My first time at Jay Peak and this is my first trip report.

I arrived mid-day Sunday (4/1) and it was overcast with snowflurries. Parked at the Stateside area.

The open trails were Haynes and Jet; one had to walk through a mud bog to get to the Jet lift.
The surface was bulletproof. I feared bringing only a monoski was a big mistake.

Monday and Tuesday (4/2 &4/3): The sun came out softening the snow soft (even on Tramside) yet it never got slushy. Perfect conditions for me!

The open trails at Tramside were Exhibition, Goat, and Green Mtn Boys.

The place to be Monday and Tuesday (4/2 & 4/3) though was at Stateside. The sun was warm, there was no wind like at Tramside, and tons of spring snow.

Also the large group of British skiers didnt make it over en masse. Perhaps the signs alerting that walking was required detered them.
Most were not strong skiers by and large. One guy both broke legs attempting to skiing on grass -- and not in the good way!

The last day was overcast and there were flurries. Didnt bother with Tramside. The snow was still carvable and soft on Haynes and Jet.

Can't wait to head back to Jay next winter (or even this weekend given today's snowfall)!!!

Not bad depth on that second to last pic! If the temps stay cool, that'll last a good while.
