Date(s) Skied: 4/8 - 4/9

Resort or Ski Area: Jay Peak

Conditions: Powder - Frozen

Trip Report:
Headed up to Jay friday night in the rain. It rained all the way up and did not change over to snow untill 11:00. Awoke to a dusting of snow. Made a few runs off the flyer anf found the upper mountain had packed powder and the lower mountain was frozen granular. At 9:00 dicided to try the tram to check out Valhalla. To our suprise we found 5 - 10" of untracked powder had the best run of the weekend. We decided it was so good the tram wait would be worth it for a second run.

After lunch we hit Dog Patch which was also powder, but when we crossed over into the lower section we found the rain soaked crusted over snow which made for the worst run of the weekend.

Most trails were holding up good and overall was in alot better shape than last weekend. The only really bad area was around the base of the Bonaventure quad where the only snow was the snow that got pushed there so you could get to the lift.

By Sunday the sun had gotten to the powder but was still packed powder on the upper mountain.

Hope to return next weekend for the pond skimming and end of season party.

JP does stand for Jay Peak. I've been skiing Jay for 20 years and usually get in 20 - 30 days a year.
