Man, what's going on? Is this a result of the weird weather, making most places have a base of ice that's getting scraped down? Or is it just normal, and I've never paid attention before?

I can only speculate w/o hard data, but it certainly seems like this season is off to a deadly start.

I don't know the exact figure for the average number of skier deaths each season in the Northeast, but I've heard six tossed around. Not sure if that's just for New England though. Anyway, this year we have Killington, Sunday River, Jiminy and now Jay. :(
