Well, that as well as the profile of the line that it ascends from the base to the summit dictates that a Tram makes sense. FWIW you may know that before the Tram there WAS a double chair that ran from near the top of Ullr's Dream/Poma Line to the summit. It was named the Skyline Double.

Additionally, the Tram is actually a smaller capacity model than those that came slightly later (such as the Snowbird Tram that moves about 100 people or so).
Yeah, I knew the double preceded the Tram. I guess you could do something like that but I was more referring to current day high speed detach options. I cannot see how one would land a D-Line terminal up there for instance, definitely not a 3S system. Yup, they should have gone with a bigger box, I think even back then they could have

How long did you have to wait for the shuttle bus ? I figured it would be overwhelmed with people trying to escape Tramside …
Not sure if we were just lucky but it was there both times as soon as we got to the lot and just got right on. This was late morning/early afternoon timeframe. The whole tram base area was a ghost town. Got lunch on that side after the last run and there weren’t many people. Mostly just skiers with uphilling gear.

On a positive note, the Stateside lefties did a fantastic job of filling up the chairs on all 3 chairlifts, and even though the lines appeared long, they moved swiftly and I never waited more than 5-10 minutes (and wasn’t even using the singles line)

Fun weekend at Jay. Glad to finally get some good tree skiing in this season with the depressing start in Maine so far.

I don’t ski here often, but I certainly don’t see the appeal of the tram as others have said. The line at one point was up to the Flyer line queue Saturday. Had to have been a 2+hr wait just for most to take a groomer. Mind boggling to me.

its wild that people wait on that line to ski the groomer off the top. actually very annoying. didnt even bother with a tram lap on sat. i used my indy 2 so unless i pay for the 25% off day i am done with jay. one tram lap this season. i skied valhalla. had no chance to hit the face this year. oh well.

I'm 4 tram laps in. The metro is back and everyone got spooked so its mellow. Trees are deep and the snow is super fluffy.
Surprising that there is no line for the Tram. Although I picked up on a marketing tact while riding the Snowbird Tram that might work. There were two visitors talking about the Tram. One of them said, "yeah, there are no trams back east. This is cool!" I kept my mouth shut.

That reminds me of the time I was at Copper on a ~6" powder day and some guy on the lift after finding out I'm from the East was like "I bet you don't see snow like this too often" and I was like bro...Jay Peak averages 60" more per season than this place does.

Jay Peak is subject to the same thaw/freeze cycles as everywhere else in our region.

That said, my son learned to ski powder there.
