HANCOCK, Massachusetts -- Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort has begun the 2008-09 season with a record number of skier visits to this point of the year. The skier visit count is nearly 71,000 up 4% at this time, a record start for the year. Despite the struggling economy and inconsistent weather conditions skiers have flocked to the mountain purchasing not only lift tickets but lessons and programs as well. The SKIWee and Explorer's Children's Programs are up 21% from last year, and the GET Skiing and Burton Learn to Ride First Time lessons program, is up 26%.

Jiminy Peak President & CEO, Brian Fairbank stated, "New Year's Day was a record breaker this year. While we're still tallying the final holiday report, this is just one aspect of a great season so far. These numbers show us that snow sports enthusiasts are always going to make the commitment to ski and they value their time out on the mountain as well as the time spent with family and friends."

Jiminy Peak is the largest ski and snowboard resort in southern New England and the only mountain resort in North America to generate its own energy using alternative wind power. For more information, visit www.jiminypeak.com.
