After skiing Middlebury Snow Bowl on Sunday, which Billski covered in his report, I hit Killington on MLK day. I pulled into the lot at around 815 and was on the K1 gondola by 840. My first run was Blue Heaven-The Jug-Bear Cub...It skied well but The Jug is getting very, very thin...I rode up the Bear Quad and proceeded to ski Devil's Fiddle. It was fun to ski but it was quite icy and not worth a repeat. After, I rode the Skye Peak Quad and skied "The Stash"...I thought that it was a neat idea for a park and it had some fun features. Later in the morning, I skied Ovation, I thought that the upper half was quite good with some decent moguls but the lower half was pretty horrible. On a side note, someone had removed there skis on Ovation and left them in the middle of the trail. What a brilliant idea!!! I then skied Northstar to Caper and over to Rams Head. Northstar was decent with some good ungroomed snow. I then rode up the Rams Head Quad and skied squeeze play. It was incredibly thin due to the high beginner traffic that weekend I would guess. However, well riding up the lift I had noticed some unmarked areas of woods that I tried...These were very good and had a lot of untracked powder...
Following a few runs through the woods, I took the tunnel over to snowshed and traversed over to Needle's Eye...I skied needle's eye which was pretty thin and then skied Vertigo. Vertigo was much steeper then I expected. I really had never heard much about the trail! It had some good moguls but the part that they had seeded at the bottom had lost most of the lines. After lunch, I primarily skied ridge run which had some great moguls and Pipe Dream and Breakaway off of South Ridge which both had great soft snow. All in all, It was a great day on the slopes and I enjoyed the variety of terrain Killington has to offer.
