Another great day to add to the total!

Made great time up at 3hr 15min and pulled into the lot at K1 at 9:15am. Booted up and out on snow at 9:35. Temp was a balmy -3 at the base, at best -25 at higher elevation in the wind. Lot's of wind. Figured the best snow would be at Snowdon and headed there. I survived 2 lift rides up and skied Patsy's to warm up and then Low Rider. I could not believe the untracked shots that remained from the storm on 1/1! 10 inches of fluff that was dry and light due to the cold. Bliss is achieved by 10:15.

But it was just too cold to ride that lift more than twice. It was brutal. So I retreated to the K1 gondola and skied the glades off of Launch Pad like Anarchy and Julio. Anarchy was great but had less untracked snow than over on Snowdon. Still a blast to ski with good coverage most of the day. Julio is steeper and had some scraped spots right from the start. Still dreamy.

Also hit Somewhere and Nowhere. Like my last visit 2 weeks ago, Nowhere had alot of snow left in it and gave me my second shot of Pow bliss for the day.

Best of all that side of the resort was out of the wind and relatively comfortable. Before I knew it 1pm rolled around and it was lunch time.

My afternoon was a repeat of the morning tour. Again, the snow over on Snowdon may as well have been from a storm that ended the night before...tons of untracked over there! The cold kept people away and as much as I wanted to stay, it was just too brutally cold. The base had at this point reached the day's high of 2.

So, back to the K1 which was a blessing because of the shelter it provided. Ran Anarchy 2x, Julio, Somewhere, and Nowhere 2x. A nice part of the Somewhere/Nowhere loops was that both drop into lower Skyelark which had been left ungroomed and had nice bumps setting up. They were icy trough/pow bumps but very smooth. The glade/bump combo really got me moving and staying warm.

ALLSKIING has some pics to show what the place looks like in his TR. Dave, some friends of mine were up there calling me with storm totals. Couldn't make it on Wednesday. But I relish my role as the farmer of leftover pow.

On 1/3 it was honest to God blower untracked for me. What a great season so far. This is rare, but I'm really thrilled with my skiing right now...that's what skiing 4 days a week will do for you. All about the mileage.

My time as ski bum approaches its' end...back to work on Monday 1/7. But I'm going back to work with a big smile on my face.

Hunter this weekend.

P.S: I'm sure there are those who think I'm a shill for Killington what with my pot stirring all summer and my glowing reports this season. Just so happens my 3 best days so far (amongst many great days so far) have been there this season. And I forked over my $76 for a lift ticket. With a big smile.

Money well spent.
