Date(s) Skied: Veterans Day November 11

Resort or Ski Area: Killington

Conditions: Hardpack on the Glades Triple trail pod, Spring conditions on lower Bunny Buster

Trip Report:

I skied from 10:30 to 12:30. Middle Chute and Lower Bunny Buster had a few thin areas but you could ski top to bottom on good skis without hitting anything. The surface was fairly bullet-proof by the time I got to it at 10:30. I rode the K1 twice and lost count of my number of laps on the Glades Triple. Better than going to the gym and nice to ski in a hat & sunglasses but not exactly an epic day.

I was there also. I met up with WWF-VT and his boy in the lot. Nice skiing with them. K1 had problems in the monring. They were going to take us up the Snowdon triple but they got the bad cabin off and got it running at about 9:45 or so. Conditions up high were good. Very fast. Very few thin spots. No bumps under the chair today though. Chute was thin as was Lower Bunny buster but no big problem. They need to blow some more snow if they get the cold to keep what they have.

Me an Jonnypoach got there around 1030.....Glad we got there later with the gondi problems:p Wasnt bad at all !! No bumps, but a beautiful day!!! Skied Rime and East glade pretty much all day.. Coverage was good, but lotta bare spots on the runout to the gondi and ya had to walk about 75 yars to get on it. The sides of the trails were pretty good but no zipperlines  Saw Slopes out there shredding it, then we met up with 180, Chris and their kids and did a few runs with them.. Jonnypoach was being a madman in the terrain park nailing 2x twister spreads and daffys off the kickers...The park rats were loving the entertainment!!!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZ

Fun day today. We met Puck It in the parking lot then did quite a few laps of Rime and East Fall. Was expecting it to be warmer and softer snow but at mid day the temperature at the top of the Gondola was only 34 degrees. Instead of sping skiing in November it was more like mid winter "packed powder" aka hardpack. It was my first day out this season and my son's first trip to Killington and he's looking forward to going back to school tomorrow and will no doubt be the only kid in his class who went skiing on Veterans Day.

Hats off to Killington for opening today. Day one under our belts. We stayed last night in the Best Western Suites. For $69 we got a huge beautuful suite and breakfast.

After struggling with the kids gear; they grew so much that I had to give Shea my boots, pants and helmet. We got to the base only to see the gondi down, but soon enough it began to run. Nice to be back on the snow. My skis were trashed from last year so it was touch and go, but who cares. Soft near the base and firm up top. No reason why they can't stay open.

Incredible sunset on the way home that lasted for almost an hour. I have never seen such vivid long lasting pink colors.

Pictures later, I have to make some work calls now.
