2/14-
Stayed at the Best Western, got out around 10AM. Parked at Snowshed because my younger sister needed to rent, and they aren't doing rentals at KBL midweek. Got out, skied until 4PM.

Conditions:

Anything groomed was decent, loose snow with hardpack below, the only ungoomed stuff that was open was up high on K-peak and Snowdon. Did two speed runs down GE for a warm up, stayed over at Bear for a while, as it was softest. Skyeburst, Bear Claw and Lower Wildfire were all pretty nice. On the way back to Snowshed, we did Skyelark, which was (as usual) fairly scraped off, but it let you get enough speed to go most of the way back to the K-1. Did GN>East Glade>Racer's Edge>GN to end the day.

Going all the way up to the peak, then finding out that the lodge wasn't open (which it is supposed to be every day), and that the only open lodges were Snowshed and RH pissed off my dad enough that he bought subs somewhere else for friday.

2/15-The day before the crowds...

Checked out of the Best Western early, got out at 9AM. We managed to get a spot in the front row at RH. Picked up a dusting overnight at the bottom, probably a bit more on the hill.

Snowed very heavily from about 1:30 to 3:30, probably picked up an inch or two, but it made things much better.

Squeeze Play-Very nice, only woods run open. A bit more ice/hardpack towards the end, but it's not exactly difficult anyway. The stream is open in spots so be a bit careful.

Needle's Eye/Panic Button, left 2/3rds were groomed, right 1/3 solid ice. Groomed portion was nice, made for some fast runs.

Cruise Control-Upper was nice, Lower was ice cubes.

Bear: Bear Claw and Wildfire were nice, Skyeburst had random patches of ice.

GE/Home Stretch-Good snow.

South Ridge: Everything was open down to escape.

Canyon- Cascade was good, Flume was rock-solid for the main section.

Other Notes:

Very windy today (Friday), Skyeship Stage II, Bear Mtn Quad, and Glades Triple were all closed for wind, Superstar was down for part of the morning, they did run Needle's Eye, Northbrook, and the Skye Peak Quad, so the holds didn't matter much. Looked like work was being done on the Snowdon Triple early this morning.

Stopped at the Back Behind Saloon on the way out for an extremely good steak, and I'm now writing this from the most strangely designed hotel I've ever been in (Mariott Residence Inn, outside of Boston), and am planning on doing some X-C tomorrow. 89 and 93 were filled with traffic heading the opposite way of us. (To the mountains).
