Trip Report: Despite the estimated rain fall amounts for the weekend we decided to leave for Killington on Fri afternoon. The drive up was not to bad since the rain was on its way out but traffic was heavy for most of the ride so it took a bit longer then it should. We arrived around 7:30 checked into the condo and then headed out to the LookOut Tavern for dinner and some beers and then to bed.
Saturday was a nice blue bird day temps in the 40's with corn snow. We parked at Ramshead got dressed and headed up on the quad. We cut over to check how Snowdon was and took a few runs off the Snowdon quad and then headed over to the north ridge triple. Rime east fall were all good as most of the mountain had the same conditions. After lunch we headed over to the South ridge area and I found the best run of the day on Pipe dream which was ungroomed and just great snow and alot of fun. We then skied a bunch of runs off the K-1 gondola and called it a day. Saturday night we parked our butts at the bar at Outback drank to much and had a great pizza and got to bed around 12pm.

Sunday we woke up to heavy rain so we got a late start. The rain did not hurt the conditions at all and most of the trails still had tons of snow and very little ice temps were still warm. We spent most of the late morning skiing off of the Super Star quad then headed in for lunch. After lunch we skied over to the Needle's Eye quad and skied all the runs off the quad for the rest of the day you could feel the temps falling through out the day. We stopped around 3:00 still hurting from the Sat night drinking fest.

Monday we woke to a temp of 9. We were expecting a rock solid mountain but instead found a very well groomed mountain with PP conditions. Since we could only ski till noon we headed over to snowdon and did a few run and then did a few off of the Canyon quad and called it a day so we could make the 5pm ferry out of New London CT. The ride down 91 was a breeze and arrived at the New London Ferry at 4:00 for the 5:00 boat. When I went in to get my ticket I noticed the black board said the seas were high no big deal I spend most of the summer on boats and have taken this ferry for years. Well the seas were more then high as they were 7 to 8 feet swells which threw that ferry all over the Long Island sound for over an hour and a half. I have taken that ferry for over 10 years and never had a ride like that. Besides that, the trip was great and Killington did a fantastic job on keeping the mountain in great shape. Pics on the way.

Nice report. Sounds like the rain came at the perfect time to help with the needed rest.

Wild ride on the ferry.

Sounds like you earned your skiing with all the travel. I was impressed that you had such good snow after the temps dropped. Sounds like the mountain opps did a great job.
