Resort or Ski Area: Killington
Conditions: Spring skiing, started out a bit on the firm side and quickly softened up. Plenty of boilerplate by days end.
Trip Report: Great day of spring skiing. Me and my wife decided to demo some ski, I got the Atomic Metron B5s, great ski. My wife tried the Rossi B2s, not overly impressive, but she found that they held a nice edge on ice. Anyway on with the trip report. We started out about 8:30 on Snowden with a few Zoners, worked our way over to the Canyon area which was really nice firm snow. Tried Downdraft, Eastfall, Escapade, Cascade, all of which were in great shape, and then proceeded to the Kzone 10am meeting. Hung out a bit, met up with some more Kzoners and Roark.
We then went over to Bear, along the way We poached a trail, forget the name, but it was nice, basically a few dried out stream beds which amounted some nice dips and jumps, interesting to say the least. When we got to Bear, we did Devil's Fiddle, this was a first for me and my wife. It turned out to be a really nice run, soft bumps all the way. Then it was over to Outer limits, more soft bumps, Wildfire, the same, actually the whole day we were hitting our share of bumps. Checked out the spot on Bear Claw where I knocked myself out last week. It's unbelievable where a person could get hurt, fairly flat area. And then, oh crap, don't remember all the details. Gues that knock to the head is still affecting me., Either that or the stop at Coops
Anyway, throughout the day, we hit Needles, back towards the Canyon/North Ridge,South Ridge area and by about 2:30 we called it quits, the trails were starting to get scraped off and the ice was coming through. But overall it was a great day of skiing.
Sunday, we wound up back at K and didn't last quite as long. The snow softened up much quicker, was quite a bit heavier, and our legs were still burning a bit from Saturday. So, we did a few runs and called it quits by about 11:30. Love the spring skiing but at the same time it sux cause you know the end is near, especially when you start seeing the bare spots.
