Resort: Killington
Conditions: VC/SC/WS
Weather: Saturday - Sun and clouds. Sunday - light rain & fog

wow what a difference a week makes. last weekend the mtn was essentially 100% open, this weekend there were bare spots and some trails were down to dirt. (we skied ovation top-to-bottom last weekend and this weekend lower was essentially bare). despite the dreary forecast, saturday turned out to be a great day. sun & clouds with warm temps though a cloud was parked over the peak most of the day. they only ran the supe quad & k1. spent the morning doing laps off the superstar quad. hit every possible combination of trails. best trails were skye hawk, supe lower left bump lines & upper needles/panic/needles. skye hawk's bumps were steep & huge while the supe headwall also some nice lines. our lunch run down ol was amazing. huge corn bumps. had the trail all to ourselves. ;-)

spent the afternoon running off the k1. all runs were great. escapade, cascade, downdraft, double dipper, powerline, west glade & highline. everything bumped. by late afternoon the lower section of the runout had some breaks and the loading area by the k1 was a swamp of 6" of slush. our final run and rotd was another shot down ol. by now the corn was ultra creamy. beautiful. interestingly when we reached the bottom we looked up up and saw about 15 other skiers bombing the trail. you'd think the damn trail was open. ;-) it's still pretty much top-to-bottom and nearly edge-to-edge with only one short break.

sunday started out as a dreary, foggy day with light rain. toughest part was visibility. they were only running the k1 as the supe was closed for mechanical repairs. they had fixed the thin & bare areas of the runout. we started out on double dipper and hit a couple other trails in the canyon. things had firmed up a bit, not too bad but nothing like saturday's corn fest. by about 10 am, tireing of the rain (not heavy but more of an annoyance), we decided to call it a day and headed over to bear to finish up once again on ol using the subaru high speed detachable lift. ;-) could have used a little sun but still skiing well.

don't know whether sunday cleared up or not after we split, but just for saturday alone, the weekend was worth the price of admission.

for it's last week of operations, k will only run the the supe quad, so they'll be plenty of corn to hike to and harvest in the canyon.

Glad to hear you had a great weekend. Was going to go today, but the weather did not work out. Went kayaking yesterday...in hindsight, probably should have grabbed a few runs before getting the boat. Oh well....

It didn't...we skied K1 from 9:00-2:30 and waited all that time for it to clear up. It just started drizzling a little harder and the visibility was essentailly zero.
