Just looked at the NOAA 48 hour weather graph. They have a perfectly acceptable high elevation snowmaking window starting this afternoon, and going all the way into TUESDAY.

Plotter.php

Temps overnight tonight will be as good as can be expected to this time of year. They will have strong snowmaking overnight and should be able to announce a saturday opening around noon on Friday.

Barring that, I would call a Sunday opening nearly 100% likely at this point.

Make sure you get a belt for those jeans and don't be late for the ski-off!

The Beast will not let you down.

I haven't been on this ski forum long and I don't know many users, so I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not?

I skied at K for the first time in May 1984. They didn't let me down back then, but the 80s and 90s are looong gone.

Again, not saying that they won't open...but I wouldn't put any money on them opening. If I did all the times the stars were aligned like now, I would have more often than not lost in the last 10 years. :dunce:

No worries Madpat. Highway Star says it will be so therefore it must be true.

Don't toy with the guy. It's not that Highway star is necessarily worng, it's just that it's the same prediction every year and then if it doesn't happen, there is another post that equates to the numerous ways in which K failed.

K may or may no open. He has no inside track, but they do have the temps for it.

I would bet more on Sunday than Saturday due to the whole silly payroll thing.

So this means I have to get up at 5 AM on Sunday after a wedding Saturday night and drive 3 hours for a handful of crowded trails.... Sounds good to me!!!

Welcome to ski season, ladies and gentlemen.

HS is very serious skier. He takes this to bed with him.

I don't think he'll show if they open though...:evil::sadwalk:

I'm getting a good feeling about it this year.

- They have said they want to open late October
- The Wobbly Barn Holloween party was moved to this weekend.
- They are looking to make a statement after Hurricane Irene.
- They were pleased with the success of last years early season efforts.

If Killington doesn't open on Sunday do we get our annual EPIC FAIL thread on Monday ?
