thanks everyone for the info. had a great time at the K yesterday.
i did venture into a few glades although there were all roped off, but all had thin cover.
they were making snow on the trail right underneath the canyon quad, i think it was big dipper. condition was very good.
i think the glades skiers left of the big dipper was double dipper? it had a skiable condition, but need to be very careful coz there were lots of stumps and rocks.

all in all it was a fun day. i need to get back there.

I am at stowe right now and I gotta say, Killington >>>>>>>>> stowe. Stowe is nice and the hotel at the base that we stay at is amazing but killington's terrain dominates stowe's. Killington actually has glades. The only two glade we found were the nosedive and the ones along the toll house. I will take killington any day.

You got it backwards Double Dipper is the wide open slope, Big Dipper is the glade. Big Dipper is hardly a glade anymore, it loses numerous trees every year because it's now open to the elements since they cut Double Dipper & the chair line. Shame because it was once my favorite trail on the mountain. Double Dipper was closed during the week while I was there because it was a sheet of ice. Saw the guns set up Fri. & glad to hear they're using them & it's now open.

This goes against just about everything I've ever heard! Never been to Stowe, but people put it on par or above Sugarbush and MRG which are both way better than Killington. The crowds on the trails at K are atrocious. The...oh, never mind.

Steamboat, you're right. I got it backwards. Big dipper had better coverage than other glades. Would be great with another foot in there.

keep the faith
Big K needs more snow! The woods are currently unskiable unless you want to get hurt or wreck your skis. Big Dipper is skiable except the top section which is blown off to grass and rock. Lots of exposed rock/stumps in the rest of it, but skiable. Everything else I wouldn't recommend except to the most thrill seeking among us (on rock skis).

Bromley has more snow in the woods right now..

Was there today. DD still looked like a scrapped off mess of bumps and ice. Under the chair was nice in between the tower guns and the pipes which was roped off.

Back in the day Catwalk to big dipper was the best on the mountain, they butchered the mountain with the canyon lift ,still sad after almost 30 years, same goes for the old superstar trail.
