Resort or Ski Area: Killington and Pico
Conditions: Powder, groomed packed powder, and more powder.
Trip Report: This made the third week in a row we got some nice fresh powder conditions in Killington. This time out we had great conditions and great company. Started at Killington and met up with BeanoNYC, Roark, Allskiing, Mrs. Allskiing, Allskiing's cousin, and my friend Jeff, fun crew for sure. Started out on Vagabond were we had some nice fresh powder. Next run was North Star, gee, more powder, and then over to Great Bear where we found, you guessed it, more powder. After that we headed up the Superstar Quad tried Old Superstar, a bit scraped off at the top, nice powder in the middle and then pure ice at the bottom. Next headed over Skye Peak to South Ridge where we hit Pipeline, still some vegetation coming throught the powder but is was nice. The South Ridge Triple, as usual was closed, so we headed over to Bear. Took the Bear Quad up and headed down Wildfire, some nice bumps, down to Skye Quad and back up to Skye Peak, where we took Skylark down to the Killington Base Lodge. Once there me, Vee, Roark, Jeff and his lady decided to take a ride to Pico. The others remained at Killington.
We expected to go to Pico and find the same sweet conditions we had last week, the results were mixed, but very enjoyable. First the bad, Upper Pike is still closed, best snow on the mountain and it's closed. Everytime we rode up the lift and looked down at it, Roark would comment on how he couldn't believe that this fine trail is closed. The one time he didn't ride up with me and Vee, we commented on how we couldn't believe it was closed. Yet everytime we rode up the lift, we'd see a few people poaching this trail, we left it alone this week. First thing, we tried Birch Glades, the snow was a lot firmer than last week, but still enjoyable. New run for us was Summit Glades, this had nice soft powder with plent of water bars that if your weren't careful with your speed, you would definately catch some good air. This happened to me a number of times, one time I didn't land too smoothly Middle chute was nicely groomed and good for some nice fast cruising. Upper KA was a bit scraped off but doable. Forty Niner was scraped off, and had some rocjs on the surface, probably the worst trail there. Hard to believe that Upper Pike is closed and this trail is open  After that we did a few runs on the lower hill and called it a day. Over all it was one of our best days of the season. Here's some pics:
