if u haven't been to k this season, it's not too late especially since june is in play. supe hasn't been this big in 10 years.

skiing rocked this weekend with the guns roaring on supe & lower skye lark. bumped up nice. made for a nice loop. yup the beast is back!

Is this true? They really are going to push into June like back in the 90s?

It is what I have heard and how it looks. Of course, Mother Nature will have the final say, but I do believe K is really gunning for it! (pun intended):fangun:

They want hail for the insurance money. That mountain needs it badly to update their lift system. Their skiable terrain has been shrinking for years. The entire south ridge side of the mountain (my favorite part!) is unusable now. Don't even get me started on the Pico Iterconnect...

Ski Killington: lot's of terrain if you can figure out how to actually use our lifts to get there...

All the terrain is still accessable if you know the mountain. Even during the week when lot's of lifts are not running. Personally I hope the interconnect & village plans never happen. There are plans to put a HSQ on Snowdon & move the existing lift over to South Ridge but that's 2-3 years out. The immediate plan now is to finish construction on the new Peak Lodge which was delayed because of Irene.

Well, for me K still being open in mid may would make for an awesome birthday.
It's a long off season. I skied Timberline @ Mt Hood in late june last year and it was well worth it.

Lol actually being Killington depending on which trail it would be, that one lame trail would be posted by Killington as 12 trails open lol

Im sorry but over the years they have really become bad with their lying of how many trails are open compared to literally what you get lol

Last year when they closed on Sun. April 22 they still had Superstar open top to bottom, no hiking required, ski right on & off the lift. Upper & lower Skye Lark as well as lower Bittersweet were still open also but you had to walk to upper Skye Lark to access them. And that's what they listed as open in their report.

Cascade & East Fall weren't listed as open but were skiable with hiking required at the top & bottom.

I'd say it's not really bad skiing even though it's one run. As long as it's below freezing the night before you go and well above during the day, there's at least a window of nice conditions at some point. The steeper sections ski ok even with slop. I'll take it vs. nothing for sure.

They'll have more than one trail open well into May. They were making whales on lower Skye Lark this weekend. As for being slushy I skied there the two days before closing last year in sunny 70 degree weather & there was still a frozen base underneath. It was anything but slushy. They even groomed Superstar top to bottom side to side on the Fri. before they closed. Didn't ski the last day because it was in the 30's & raining.

More than 1 trail well into late April. Superstar will shine deep into Spring, but Skyelark isn't going to make it to May.

Looks like it. We should have a K mini gathering in April.

Make it the weekend of April 20th & 21st. I'll be there with "DA BOYZ". Won't be able to ski so I could keep the coals on the BBQ hot. I even have an inexpensive place for everyone to stay nearby. $36 a night for guests including breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, coffee & juice). The house sleeps 48 people comfortably with a commercial kitchen we can use, large dining room, living room with fireplace, and a large party room with fireplace. Whatta ya think?

Don't know Moose, you sure about that? Skylark looked and felt real sweet today, Snow is piled up high, I would recommend at least temporally changing the name to Mogul Mart, as you had your choice as to what ever kind of moguls you wanted on that trail, from whales to smaller ones and the snow was some of the sweetest, softest stuff I've skied in a long time. K is going to town on stockpiling.

Question to any Killington regular? Know they will start shedding terrain at somepoint regardless of snow. What will close and what will remain open as we progress into spring and when should we look for this? Assume Rams Head soon (why I skied it this past weekend), Bear/Sky Peak after BMMC, Needles Eye?, Snowdon? North Ridge?

i have no inside info on this. mike has previously announced the closing of bear after the bmmc. i would assume ramshead would also close then if it didn't close after easter. if conditions are still good (which i suspect they will) and there is a public outcry, i wouldn't be surprised if they reopened bear on a limited basis the following weekend. i'd give needles & snowshed to the weekend after the bmmc as well. under pres smith and even early asc, the k1 & snowdon remained open through april and sometimes even into early may. i'm hoping/thinking that if conditions are good, that they run at least the k1 through the end of april with maybe a snowdon lift through the 3rd week of april. i'd expect supe to run as long as they can maintain top-to-bottom conditions. they didn't blow all that snow for nothing. and june is definitely in play this season.
